FINES Bob Bush and Jeff Brewer were our New Sergeants-At-Arms this morning. Ward Davis was fined for being his usual unsociably being late along with Eric Steinle who was also fined a winners tax for winning the 50/50 last week not to be confused with the whiners tax that ward Davis paid later. Rick Mitchell paid a fine for missing several weeks in a row. Darren Wicks paid for being later than his guest plus an additional dollar for talking with Dan Power and Curtis Mitchell who were also fined. Stan Macgirvin, Tim Davies and myself for eating before the (yet unknown) Sergeants. Darren Wicks was fined (again) for drinking Rock Star (sold by a Wichita company) and not the (Bob Bush approved) energy drink Monster. Vern Powers announced that he and Alva were celebrating their 65 wedding anniversary and did not have to pay but everyone else did on their behalf. In homage to Scott Potucek Bob Bush continued Today in History fining those tables (almost all) who did not know the correct answers.

PROGRAM Darren Wicks introduced Monty Montgomery, the new President of the Greater Hutchinson Chamber of Commerce. Monty moved here from Big Spring in West Texas having been an economic development consultant. Born in Crane, Texas he was a graduate of Texas Tech University with a business degree. After working in several economic development positions in Texas and then Grand Island, Nebraska he returned to Texas to work in the oil business and an electric utility. He has big shoes to fill following Dave Kerrs retirement after 5 years here as President. Monty was looking for a reason to return to the Midwest and feels he has found it in coming to Hutchinson. With the recent Oil and Gas development in Western Kansas getting three times the production that North Dakota is pumping. Monty feels this could boom Western Kansas which would put Hutchinson on the doorstep of economic development locally. He also wants to bring more sports tournaments to Hutchinson being an avid sports enthusiast himself. Monty also implemented the new corporate wellness program at the chamber and will use it to promote other companies adding it as a benefit for their employees. Other issues needing attention are the Hutchinson Mall and the Ramada Convention Center. Continued promotion of the H-Factor program to shop locally especially during tough economic times with high gas prices. Most importantly he feels the Chamber and its various divisions are to provide outstanding service to their stakeholders during his tenure.
