MEETING: Friday February 10, 2012 EDITOR: Tom Hymer

WELCOME GUESTS: John Young of St. Francis Community Services was a guest and program presenter today. .

SERGEANTS: Bob Bush and his toilet handler Rick Mitchell identified late arrivals Randall Haltom and Ron Quick. Dean Brigman, Paul Brown, Jim Seitnater, Dennis Bockenstedt were the subjects of several articles in the Hutchinson News but they failed to say anything about Ambucs, tsk tsk. Duke Wiggins and Darren Wicks were fined but other people paid their fines, what is the world coming to? The Dead Butt Society attempted a revival but ended up paying for it, members Larry Sloan, Jerry Regier, Stan Macgirvin, and Chuck Peterson felt the joy of having a cause. There was something said about a chili-cook-off and more money was collected from City of Hutchinson employees. In a rare turn-about Sergeant Bush actually paid Craig Johnson for repairing his sons saxophone in 48 hours, this should go down in history. Speaking of history, the sergeants shamelessly borrowed Potuceks This Day in History to raise some more money. When they completed their fining spree, everyone was satisfied.

PAID ANNOUNCEMENT: Anita Warren announced that she had another birthday after her 55TH, a clever way of saying it.

PAID ANNOUNCEMENT: Doc Powers talked about the end war.

JERRY REGIER reminded the membership about the upcoming Inaugural State of City address on the Meeting of February 24TH. He noted that there are 36 guests invited to this event and that Ambucs are needed to escort the guests as they arrive for this event. Be ready to sign up at the next meeting this Friday.

PRESIDENT CURTIS MITCHELL offered a progress report about the possibility of a new building for the Ice Cream Parlor. A number of factors are in play including submitting grants for financial support, features that could be considered in a new building, and working with the State Fair Managers.

DISTRICT DIRECTOR VICKI TANGEMAN announced that Ambucs National Convention will be held in Oklahoma City July 11-14. Also Ms. Tangeman added that, the Ambucs Amtryke Demo Trailer is mostly available upon request, and a dinner in Salina featuring the national president.

CRAIG JOHNSON announced that a private tour of the Siemens facility will be conducted on April 26TH 10:00 11:30.

PROGRAM: Darren Wicks introduced John Young, Resource Director of St. Francis Family Services. Mr. Young talked about St. Francis family services that cover 54 counties in Kansas with three objectives: 1. Family preservation with consultation classes. 2. Reintegration of children through foster care. 3. Support of foster care parents. The need for foster care parents is greater than the availability. People interested in becoming foster parents must take training classes and have adequate accommodations in the home. Mr. Young placed great emphasis on the positive outcomes and benefits for the kids in the program making a positive impact in their lives.

50/50 DRAWING: Terry Brigman won the 50/50 pot of $26.

NEWSLETTER DRAWING: Brenda Jandas name was drawn and she had the right answer for an undetermined amount of money. For $5, how many counties in Kansas are served by St. Francis?
