Hutchinson Chapter of Ambucs Jim Seitnater, Editor

Welcome Guests: Jerry Regier introduced Dr. Bill Davis and Dick Steiner, todays program. Mark Clark brought his daughter Ashley. Since his sponsor Tim Davies was late, Jay Pitzer introduced John Dresher our newest member. If Tim makes it on time next week, we may get him officially installed.

Sergeants: Sergeants Knipp and Randy Hendrickson fined several board members for being late to the meeting, including himself. He fined Tim D for being late and not introducing his new member. He then asked all who had brought a guest to breakfast last year to stand and proceeded to fine the few who were left sitting. Tuit Report: Brad Thompson called out Jim Jacobs for his handling of last weeks tuit transfer and purple repainting. He then fined so many that I couldnt keep up. Brad then exposed the purple tuit as an imposter introduced during John Knipps recent possession, costing the Sgt a buck. Brad then replaced the purple tuit with a much larger version accessorized with a belt loop attachment for John Knipps possession.

Presidents Message: Scott Potucek reported that the club was in good financial shape and grew members in 2009. Scott then talked about the upcoming Visibility Month and introduced Jay Pitzer to talk about membership. Jay announced Steak Night II on Friday April 30th and challenged all members to invite a guest to attend. The first Steak Night was a success and helped recruit 8 new members. Jay reminded all to use the plastic tuits and invitation cards to recruit new members and to invite them to breakfast to experience the club. Jay mentioned new groups like the YP as potential new members. Mark Clark suggested that we link Ambucs website to the YP website and Bob, the Webmaster, agreed to look into accomplishing this.

Program: Jerry Regier introduced Dr. Bill Davis, who then introduced Dick Steiner who has lost 70 lbs using the Take Shape for Life program after suffering a stroke 3 yrs ago. Dick has maintained his weight and health through the maintenance program. Dr. Davis shared that over 30% of Americans are overweight and obese and over 20,000 doctors now endorse the Take Shape for Life program. The program offers Health Coaches who help those new to the program and they meet on Tuesday & Wednesday at 5:15 pm at the Hutchinson Public Library.

Newsletter – January 8, 2010 Weekly Meeting of the Hutchinson Ambucs:

Jim Seitnater, editor

Welcome Guests: No Guests this morning.

Sergeants: Sergeants Knipp and Randy Hendrickson fined Tim Davies for being late, which prompted Preston Clark to call out Sherriff Knipp for being late to the Community Service Meeting. After a short discussion Sherriff Knipp paid. He tried to fine Stan McGivirin for not mentioning Ambucs in his TV commercials who avoided the fine by cleverly stating that he was trying to get customers! At that point the Sherriffs resorted to Sports Trivia about recent bowl games resulting in a few bucks. They used the old pin check to collect some real dollars.

Tuit report: Jim Jacobs displayed a new purple tuit and quickly dumped the tuit between Brad Thompson and Bob Bush who debated possession. Obviously, Brad cared more for his tuit, so be sure to ask Brad how his child is enjoying the week..

Presidents Message: Scott Potucek and Doyle Ehling shared thank yours from various Head Start classes who received Christmas boxes from Ambucs. Scott announced that the Hutchinson Ambucs finished 9th in the nation with a successful Fall Roundup. Scott then acted as a facilitator for a discussion of the clubs t-shirt special project structure. The President asked the club to help Dennis Reiser with others taking ownership of the tasks involved during the NJCAA Basketball, Track and Bowl Game projects which raise needed funds for the club. Jay Pitzer stated that at least 6 people are needed to manage these projects similar to the Ice Cream Booth. Kathleen Kennedy, Jeffery Tolberg, Scott Potucek, and Tom Hymer volunteered to help Dennis and those already on the committee. Bob Bush offered to help with e-mail communication and Chuck Peterson suggested using the computer to help target tasks to those working on them. Jay Pitzer announced next years track event is scheduled for May 18-22nd. Eric Steinle asked the past chairman, Bob Bush and Jeff Brewer to meet with Dennis to help structure assignments. Terry Brigman suggested time limits for assignments to rotate responsibility and protect against lifetime assignments. President Potucek stated that we would discuss Community Services at next weeks meeting.

Don Grosshardt read a letter from Chance George a Buhler High School student who is part of a team whose business class project (Ice Creamery) has pledged 10% of their profits to Ambucs projects. A check for $67 was presented representing 10% of the profits to date.

Drawings: Brad Thompson won $24 in the 50/50 pot. Vern Powers was not in attendance to answer the newsletter drawing. Newsletter question for next weeks January 15th meeting is What place did the Hutchinson Ambucs take during Fall Roundup.

Welcome Guests: Recipient for an Amtryke and family; Carolyn Sayler, therapist; Jeff Pelischek and Dorcas Smith; providing todays program invited by Guy Gann; John Dresser, HR director at Collins and guest of Tim Davies.

Sergeants: John Knipp and company fined a whole bunch of inconsiderate people going through the breakfast line before the guests. This prompted Preston Clark to claim the Doug Foss Fine Exemption Privilege earned by bringing a lot of new members into the club. However he paid anyway due to the threat of being bludgeoned by the toilet. Then the sergeant attempted to sell the unclaimed Christmas cards from the Christmas party at the Airport Steakhouse, ha ha ha, good luck with that. And because The People Want to Know what does Curtis Mitchell do at the Promise? He happily paid with an unintelligible comment, very clever. President Potucek was fined for disrupting todays board meeting by clanging his silver coins, what? Jay Pitzer paid a fine to praise his loyal band of casino dealers. Jay also said that he recently had a colon screen and urged the membership to do likewise. Doug Foss commented that he listens to the radio and heard Jim Seitnator approbating our club. Way to go Jim!

Tuit report: The tuit made its return today via a proxy, Diane Sanders. After commenting that the Tuit is painted red she gave it to Jim Jacobs. He seemed overly delighted to get it.

President message: Scott Potucek said he is proud of the job we did preparing the boxes for Head Start. He listed a number of club accomplishments and that printing T-shirts could be a wayof creating more fund raisers.

Community Service report: Preston Clark announced that $500 is approved for T.E.C.H. They requested for $1,933 for computer equipment and technological devices. He noted that while $500 is going to help, he suggested members on their own accord could make individual donations to help T.E.C.H. and to contact them directly. You can contact our Ambucs member at T.E.C.H. Diane Saunders at 620-663-2216, email diane@techinc.org . Also Community Service approved $250 for Sundance Farm that offers therapy horses similar to Reins of Hope.

Amtryke recipient: Today Breana Glespie got her first Amtryke. She is 12 years old and has autism. The newsletter question for the next regular meeting on January 8th, 2010 is: “Who was the accompanist for Jeff Pelischek?”

Future Programs: To be announced.

Next meeting: January 8th, 2010. Every member wishes every member a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Summary of the Hutchinson Ambucs in action: Tom Hymer, editor

The 1st Annual Central Bank Salt City Bowl – Saturday December 5th: It was a frigid day at Gowans Stadium for the football game between the HCC Blue Dragons and the New Mexico Military Institute Broncos. But the T-shirt printing presses were hot as the Ambucs helped the fans and the players with their shirt orders. Thanks to all the Ambucs that made this event a success and to Dennis Reiser for his leadership.

The Annual Christmas Party and Social – Wednesday evening December 9th: The Airport Steak House was this years site for this event. About fifty people attended composed of Ambucs members and their spouses. The restaurant did an excellent job and delivering great food and service. Jeff Brewer provided an exercise for the members to participate in and think about Five Reasons I think that makes Ambucs great and why I am proud to be a member. Several members thoughtfully shared that our community service, friendship, Amtrykes, and working on projects together makes our club a great club. Thanks to the Social Committee and Jeffs leadership for making a great evening.

The Annual Head Start project Friday morning December 11th: Our weekly Friday meeting was held at the Airport Steakhouse. Our guests included about 12 people from the staff of Head Start. After eating breakfast everyone went L&B Storage and Rental to make the Christmas boxes for the Head Start kids. The boxes include healthy snacks, mittens, coloring book, and fruit. About 340 boxes were filled for distribution for needy Head Start clients. When about 60 Ambucs gather together on a project we get the job done. Thanks to Larry Sloan for the use of his building. Also thanks to Doyle Ehling for his leadership and to all members who participated in anyway.

Casino night – Friday evening December 11th: Cutters Furniture Store invited our club to stage another casino event this year for their employee annual Christmas party. This is small setting but everyone has a lot fun. And it raised about $800 for our community service projects. Thanks to Jay Pitzer for his organization skills and the small band of Ambucs who volunteed to be dealers for the games.

The Round Tuit: JoAnn Williams continues to care for the Tuit, we assume.

The next regular meeting: Friday December 18th we return to the Hutchinson Town Club. The program manager is Guy Gann who has arranged for a Christmas music performance by HCC director of bands Jeff Pelischek. Pelischek plays a variety of instruments, however is well-known for his talent playing clarinet.

Newsletter question: How many boxes were made for Head Start?

No meetings mark your calendars: Because Christmas and New Years day fall on Fridays there will no meetings.

Weekly Meeting of the Hutchinson Ambucs: Tom Hymer, editor

Welcome Guests: Wesley Vaughn, Reno County Deputy Sherriff, today’s program presenter, invited by Thomas Stanton.

Sergeants: John Knipp and worthy assistant Randy Hendrickson fined Stan Macgirvin for an unknown offense and while at the same table they picked up a couple of extra bucks because Bob Bush and Brad Thompson were talking and not giving the sergeant their undivided attention and adoration. As usual Eric Steinle paid his late fee. The sergeants found a cure for Ward Daviss disgusting look, fining him really cheered him up. With elephant like memories the sergeants collected a dollar from Darrin Wicks for past offenses. Having exhausted all their material they resorted to the classic pin check for a few bucks.

Tuit report: There was no Tuit report because JoAnn Williams did not attend todays meeting.

President Scott and club announcements: Scott Potucek circulated a Wish List from T.E.C.H. that contained equipment and technological devices they need for their daily operations. Scott explained that this list will be reviewed to determine what action will be taken by our club.

T-Shirt Chairman Dennis Reiser reported on the progress on printing T-shirs for the 1st Annual Central Bank Salt City Bowl featuring the Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons Vs. New Mexico Military Institute Broncos on December 5th at Gowans Stadium. Orders taken already have paid for the cost of logos and shirts so we will be assured of making a profit with tomorrows sales. This link has information on the game and time information – http://www.saltcitybowl.com/ .

Jeff Brewer reminded everyone about the Christmas Party and Social at 6pm Wednesday December 9th at the Airport Steak House. If you have not made your reservation you might be able to do so by calling Jeff today. Mostly Jeffs announcement was a reminder to bring your money on Wednesday, $24 per person.

Darrin Wicks presented to the club a request to review the requirements of rewarding scholarships to therapists. He is proposing that the community service committee make scholarship awards available to assistant physical therapists He cited an individual he deems worthy of consideration.

Doug Foss explained that a woman who is fighting cancer needs work and repairs for her house. The project would need to be completed by the end of December in order to qualify for $1400.00 to fund materials. A decision to proceed on this project awaits additional information.

Thomas Stanton spoke about the Toys for Tots program and noted that there has been a decline in donated toys. In order to bring in more toys donors will receive a special cookie December 5th at the Court House.

Program: Thomas Stanton introduced todays program presenter Wesley Vaughn who is deputy for the Reno County Sherriff Law Enforcement. Vaughn manages the Reno County sex offender program. At the present time there are about 220 people who as registered sex offenders in Reno County. Comparing this to Sedgwick where there are 550 registered sex offenders one can notice that Reno county has a greater percent of offenders based on population. One of the reasons for this disparity is the prison here in Hutchinson. Vaughn routinely makes home and on the job visits to the offenders to verify their whereabouts. This information is invaluable when used in locating missing children. Vaughn concluded his presentation by answering some questions that drug offenders are more likely to relapse than sex offenders.

Drawings: Ron Williams won the 50/50 pot of $21. Jim Shaws name was drawn for the newsletter question, however he was not present. The newsletter question for the next regular meeting on December 18th is: “Who is Wesley Vaughn?”

Mike spoke about the foundation of the Kids Against Hunger by Richard Proudfit of Minnesota. As he was helping to rebuild storm damage in Honduras he noticed that children had little to eat.Through trial and error he developed a simple concept: enlist other individuals and groups who were passionate about feeding children by licensing the Kids Against Hunger name, food formulation, and packaging process to them.Mr. Proudfitwould expand his base by building a national network of food packaging satellites powered by the energy and funds of other social entrepreneurs like him. To date, he has launched dozens of satellites in the USA and Canada, eachusing the same manual process to package the standardized food formulation for distribution to dozens of countries all over the globe. The food packages are basically rice mixed with dried vegetables and soy making a nutritionally complex and well balanced meal. Welcome Guests: Ron Williams, Hutch Net Wireless, 2nd time guest, invited by Preston Clark; Mary Hemmings, todays program presenter, introduced by Dean Brigman; Larry Cottrell, Real Estate Appraisal, invited by Randall Haltom; Randy Langford, Good Samaritan Administration Training, invited by Brenda Janda.

Regular Sergeants: It appears that Larry Sloan and assistant Doug Foss have advanced from substitutes to regular sergeants joining the ranks of John Knipp and Randy Hendrickson. Dear reader: Can you think of something clever to say about this? Have fun and do not be PC. Speaking of PC, Ward Davis was fined for being an obedient and compliant Ambuc. Randall Haltom paid because his guest arrived before he did. Not so PC Preston Clark must have been acting like himself and was dinged accordingly. The sergeants took a moment to recognize Jim Seitnator for his accomplishments in promoting Downtown Hutchinson. Jim acknowledged that being an Ambuc was key to earning this recognition. Various broad members were fined for being late prompting David Suhler to confess his misleading email. Doug Foss announced that he is now exempt from paying fines because he is a Big Hat, or a big something or other.

Tuit reports: New member Doug Hoffman delivered his Tuit report snagging Duke Wiggins for Tuit welfare negligence. Duke always gets snagged. Then in a demonstration of creativity Doug declared the winner of the 50/50 pot will get the Tuit. See 50/50 pot below.

After an extended absence of 6 weeks Dean Brigman delivered his Tuit report. He cited Doug Foss, Tom Hymer, Brad Thompson, and, and, and, can you guess who, Duke!!! again, all paid for ignoring the Tuit. However Dean had disturbing news, he lost the Tuit. Little did he realize that he suddenly became a hero with cheers and applause all around.

Presidential moments and club announcements: Scott Potucek announced there will not be a meeting on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Also please note that the meeting on December 11th will be held at the Airport Steakhouse for breakfast followed by making the gift boxes for Head Start at L&B Storage and Rental.

Please note reservations made but are a no-show will be billed. This is a great opportunity to invite guests.

Program: Dean Brigman introduced today’s program presenter Mary Hemmings director of the Fox Theatre. Mary spoke about the tremendous support that the community gives to the Fox. This is especially significant due to the fact that similar venues around the country are experiencing problems and being forced to close. The Fox receives about $8,000 in State and Federal grants, however she emphasized the City of Hutchinson provides zero funds for the Fox despite the perception that it does. Other revenue comes from ticket sales and donations. Besides a great line-up of shows and movies the Fox is available to rent for weddings, conventions, family reunions. The Fox is always searching for events and willing to try new ideas. The Fox provides a quality line-up of family entertainment and is truly a star and a landmark in our city thanks to the leadership of Mary Hemmings. “Turtle Island” is the next show on November 20th starring a Quartet of string musicians playing blue grass, jazz, folk music, and rock. http://www.hutchinsonfox.com/index.shtml

Weekly Newsletter of the Hutchinson Ambucs: Duke Wiggins, Editor

Welcome Guests: Randy Langford, Good Samaritan Village, guest of Jerry Dalton –

Randy is an Executive Director in training and will be working with Jerry and Brenda for several months. Marci Kauffman and Carter, her son. guests of Ward Davis. Marci is the Marketing Director at TECH and is bringing our program for today.

Sergeants Corner: Sgts Sloan and Hendrickson interrupted our breakfast to bring us the inside dirt on our members. However, Sgt Sloan spent the first 5 minutes explaining why he had no dirt to bring, since President Scott forgot to advise that he was in charge this morning. Scott paid his fine, and Larry should have paid one as a whining tax. Doug Foss reported that his newest member, Doug Hoffman, now had his badge, but still was not getting his newsletter. That created fines for Duke W (newsletter editor), Bob B (webmaster), and President Scott, as they all quickly pointed fingers at each other when asked to produce Dougs missing paperwork. Fortunately, the paperwork has been found, and Doug will receive his newsletter by 3-mail this week. Then Bob B, Rick M, and Eric S were discovered trying to be diligent AMBUCS by entering the date of our Christmas Party in their digital planners. All 3 were assessed a cell tax, proving that you dont have to have a cell or have it go off to get hit with this tax. Gadget keepers beware!! Small business owner Mark Treaster has been liberally advertising his carpet cleaning services on both radio and TV, thus paying a $2 fine for not mentioning AMBUCS in either ad.

The Round Tuit: Randall Haltom carried the Tuit last week, Desperate for fine material , he asked several questions about the members fondness for Mr/Ms Tuit. The responses ranged from I really dont care to I would pay you $5 to lose the *&%$ thing. Having sensed that the Tuit had his/her feelings hurt, he fined everyone who did not inquire about Mr/Ms Tuit during the week. Since only 2 members cared enough to inquire, everyone else paid a fine. Preston Clark took it upon himself to inquire on his own, and Doug Hoffman indicated he had prayed about it all week. It was agreed that anyone who cared that much needed about a piece of iron needed to get a new life. So guess who ended up with the TUIT Mr. Doug Hoffman. Have a blessed week Doug.

Club Announcements:

Board Meeting: Friday, Nov 13th @ 6:10AM

Downtown Christmas Lights: Monday. Nov 16th at 6:00PM Meet at Avenue A Park should be done by 7:00

Program: Marci Kauffman, Marketing Director at TECH, Inc. brought us up to date on their various projects. Uncorked for TECH was considered a success. All tickets were sold and $12,000 was raised. The next big fundraiser is the Holiday Festival scheduled for Nov 20th and 21st. Since the Grand Prairie was not available, this years festival will be back at the fairgrounds at Cottonwood Courts. This is TECHs biggest fundraiser, usually raising $40,000 to $45,000 annually. Invitations are already in the mail and responses have been rolling in. so make your reservation quickly. If you did not receive an invitation, contact Marci at 663-1596. The fundraising projects and contributions from groups like the AMBUCS are extremely important this year. As everyone is aware, the state has cut the funding of special needs programs and with the governors recent announcement, more cuts are expected. Since a large part of TECHs budget covers staff positions, they have already cut a number of positions, filling those duties by distributing them among remaining staff members. The Early Education program is facing serious budget cuts, making this program at risk for continuation. If you would like to help by writing letters or making calls, contact Marci or Brenda Maxey..

Drawings: The 50/50 pot was won by Doyle Ehling, who donated the $24 to TECH. Don Gs name was drawn for the Newsletter Question. Alas, he had no idea.

Weekly Meeting of the Hutchinson Ambucs: Tom Hymer, editor

Welcome Guests: Ron Williams, 2nd time guest, invited by Preston Clark: Jeff Sutton, todays program presenter, invited by Jay Pitzer.

Big Hat Friday: Big Hatter chief Duke Wiggins opened the meeting with prayer and a flag salute. When there are five Fridays in a month the Big Hatters conduct the meeting. What is a Big Hatter? Big Hatters is the group of Ambucs within Ambucs. When an Ambuc recruits three new members in a twelve month period he/she is inducted into the Big Hatters and awarded a big hat. The Big Hat is a cowboy style hat and is required apparel on the 5th Fridays and other occasions. Big Hatters work to have fun, conduct socials, promote fellowship, membership recruitment, and promote principles of local and national Ambucs programs.

Impostor Sergeants: Brad Thompson and assistant Doug Foss seemed much too eager in taking over the sergeant duties near fanatical enjoyment. So with great zeal they fined Chief Duke for no notice that they were todays sergeants. Mark Clark dropped in today after missing about ten meetings and paid renewal fees. Darren Wicks paid for being late. Big Hatters without their hats is like a sin, you have to pay penance. The violators were Bill Long, Doc Powers, and Guy Gann. Being that Guy is habitually hatless his penance was to wear the mock paper hat made by Tom Hymer. Guy protested that hats mess up his hair, hello! hairless. Doug Foss noted that new member Doug Hoffman had no badge for which Steve Conard paid a buck.

The Round Tuit: Second Tuit keeper Dean Brigman is still absent after 4 weeks. However original Tuit keeper Tom Hymer made phone calls to Preston Clark and Guy Gann who failed to ask about the Tuit within 45 minutes after last weeks meeting. Pam Brooks called Toms wife Virginia at the Hutchinson Clinic and did not ask her about the Tuit. However Brad Thompson asked about the Tuit when Tom called him. Also Brad Thompson was the only one smart enough to acknowledge Toms email to all Ambucs that the newsletter is ready meaning everyone else in the room paid for Tuit negligence. Randall Haltom is now the keeper of the original Tuit. It is known that Haltom is making some creative plans for Tuit adventures, fair warning.

Club Announcements: Because Big Hatters were in charge of the meeting President Scott Potucek had to buy a fine in order to say he felt recharged after the Ambucs Regional Convention in Wagner, OK. He learned that the Salina Chapter is engaged in a fund raiser that works like a lottery or a gambling game of cards with proceeds divided between community service funding and a winner. As of this date the game has generated $3,700 and still going. Scott believes our club might also try this and while it sounds workable, the sergeants dinged Don Grossardt for being a tight wad with a possible influx of such money. And Don might say, wheres the proof?

Christmas Party and Social: Jeff Brewer started the circulation of a sign-up sheet for a Christmas social on Wednesday December 9th at the Airport Steak House. Social time begins at 6:00pm, dinner served at 7:00pm. Adult beverages available at the restaurant on your own tab. Other beverages, coffee, tea, soda, water are provided. Cost is $24 per person payable that evening. The menu will offer 10oz. filet, salmon, and chicken. December 2nd is an absolute deadline to make your reservations. Please note reservations made but are a no-show will be billed. This is a great opportunity to invite guests.

Program: Jay Pitzer introduced todays program Jeff Sutton of Daymon Worldwide Private Brands. The company manages store brands for Kroger and many other companies like Radio Shack, Windixie, Dollar General, Safeway, Office Depot, and others. Sutton discussed at length the companys business relationship with Kroger. When Dillon Stores was acquired by Kroger many of the management functions were taken into Cincinnati. This created an opportunity for Daymon to establish operations in Hutchinson utilizing many of the Dillon personnel with their specific skills in marketing, accounting, data management, and clerical duties as well as the infrastructure of buildings and warehouses. Essentially Daymon provides the link between suppliers and retailers to bring competitive non-branded products that in many cases are identical or nearly identical to name brands at a lower price. For example Kroger canned beans compare to Del Monte beans. The company has another division that analyzes sales data gathered from point of sale scanners. Such analysis can provide the basis to make marketing decisions to retain customers and control inventories.

Drawings: Stan Macgirvin won the 50/50 pot of $25. Luke McConnaughys name was drawn for the newsletter question, however he was absent today. The newsletter question for the next meeting is: What is the date of the Ambucs Christmas Social?

The Sergeants: Started their business with an enthusiastic good morning exercise by leading multiple repetitions of that phrase until the roof was raised. Sgt. John Knipp fined himself for arriving late, which just goes to show you that no one, no matter how important is exempt from paying a late fee. Ward Davis was clocked by wannabe cop Sgt. John doing 105 mph on 30th Street and paid one dollar?! Is this the ultimate missed opportunity? Your innocent editor was fined for appearing like an obtuse judge at the Chamber After Hours event. Steve Harmon made a mistake and used a fake ID. Banker and factoid expert Pat Fallon was tested and knew the answer to the question who was the speaker at the Chamber Breakfast and other questions, however he had to pay anyway. Then much laughter ensued when Bush and Fallon challenged the authority of the Sergeant. Doug Foss bought a fine and announced he has been blessed that a lesion on his head was removed and found to be non-cancerous.

The Round Tuit: Second Tuit keeper Dean Brigman is still absent after 3 weeks. However original Tuit keeper Geoff Tolbert delivered his report after two weeks of toting the thing. He didnt have much luck snagging Morton Salt co-worker Doug Foss. He just knew he saw Brenda Janda somewhere, but his memory was a little fuzzy and is now seeing Pat Fallon for remedial memory treatment. Morton Salt ordered some paper products from Sonoco therefore Potucek and Kicklighter were fined for Tuit oversight. Dane Power who has not darkened a Wal-Mart door for the past 19 months was fined for being there at 1:45am when Geoff was shopping. Then, after some deep thought, he gave the Tuit to Tom Hymer. Caution!

Club Announcements: President Scott swore in new member Doug Hoffman of Imperial Vending, Doug Foss sponsor. Congratulations to Hoffman and Foss, lets all be sure to help our new member to get acquainted by introducing ourselves to him. Scott again reminded the membership about Fall Branding and inviting guests to our weekly meetings. He expressed his appreciation and compliments for todays seven guests, a great turn-out. Scott announced he will be traveling to Wagner, OK for an Ambucs Regional Convention.

Christmas Party and Social: Jeff Brewer announced the evening of Wednesday December 9th at the Airport Steak House for our annual event. The menu will offer 10oz. filet, salmon, and chicken. December 2nd is an absolute deadline to make your reservations. This is a great opportunity to invite guests. More details and a sign-up sheet will be given at future meetings.

Amtryke Community Service in action: Community Service Committee member Doug Foss introduced Xavier Benson and his guardian Jesse Schaeffer. Xavier is 10 years and receives his second Amtryke today with the guidance of his therapist at Wesley Hospital in Wichita. Jesse has been a foster parent for Xavier for six months. He enjoys school and watching sports, especially basketball. Brad Thompson made some adjustments to fit the Amtryke for Xavier so he could take it for a spin.

Program: Program Manager Guy Gann introduced todays program Steve Eck HCC Basketball Coach. Growing up in nearby Haven and Hutchinson Eck began his coaching career by taking opportunities in smaller communities with a long range plan of returning to Hutchinson. Serving at Plainview, El Reno, OK, and Arkansas City prepared Eck for the head coaching position with the Blue Dragons. Although the roster is completely new for the Blue Dragons, Eck will have some familiarity with a couple of players. Guard Adonis Gantt and freshman Garrius Holloman played for Eck at Cowley and transferred to HCC for their sophomore seasons. However overall he has a young team of 11 first year players. Having some recruiting success and disappointments a key player has suffered a knee injury. Upcoming games at Seward and Garden City will be strong opponents. Good luck coach and thanks for an interesting program.

Drawings: New member Doug Hoffman won the 50/50 pot of $25. Kip Hildebrands name was drawn for the newsletter question, however he did know the question let alone the answer. The newsletter question for the next meeting is: How many first year players are on the Blue Dragons Mens Basketball team?
