Program: Jason Ball president of the Hutchinson Chamber of Commerce addressed the club with a report on business activities and updates. He noted the Hutchinson Mall has a new owner proposing a coop arrangement of ten businesses to be located in the Mall. His main report concerned the Mervis Company planning to locate in Hutchinson a rail-car renovation plant. Mervis is moving quickly and investing $35 million project in Hutchinson that will over time create 150 jobs, and the potential of 485 indirect jobs locally in the community. The main industry will renovate and repair tank cars in order to recycle them back into operation, and in the future grain hoppers.
