Hutchinson Ambucs
Newsletter editor: Tom Hymer
Guests:
Aubrey Abbott Patterson who presented todays program.
Substitutes in the Sergeants Playground:
With no explanation the unlikely pairing, Bob Bush and Jay Pitzer were stand-ins for the regular sergeant. This activity will probably not improve their golf game. However as sergeants they proved capable of collecting the money. Ward Davis was dinged for playing with his cell phone and blocking traffic somewhere, maybe at K-61 and 11th Avenue. Late arrivals at the board meeting were Curtis Mitchell and Rick Mitchell. Eric Stienle was fined for being on-time further reinforcing his reputation for being late. Club president Scott Potucek was fined for several violations one of which was dumping the badge box (like this has never been done before). Guy Gann was fined for doing the dishes, which apparently has never been done before. Jeff Brewer was fined for being a card shark; He probably has done this before.
Adventures of The Round Tuit:
New member Jerry Hill learned some rules about having the Tuit, mainly if you have the Tuit you have to pay to get rid of it. It appeared that Jerry Regier encountered Jerry Hill somewhere and did not ask about the Tuit. Ka-Ching, or as in the case of the toliet, whooosh. Motorcyclist Tim Davies now has the Tuit, probably because he was sitting with the two Jerrys.
Buy a fine (another term for advertising at an incredibly cheap price):
Dennis talked about youth leadership and has his daughter is involved. Bob Bush confirmed that Denniss daughter is talented and getting things done.
Club Announcements:
President Scott mentioned that at the board meeting another T-shirt opportunity is developing. Details and terms are under discussion. If you would like to learn about this project, be at the T-Shirt Committee meeting at 6:15 this coming Friday. Also Spring Round-up is approaching and now is the time to invite some people to be guests of the club. Last but not least Scott announced that the Salina Ambucs club has challenged our club to a Polar Plunge. If you think this is a jump into some lake in the winter, you are right. Everybody is waiting for that sign-up sheet, not.
Program:
Dean Brigman introduced todays program presenter Aubrey Abbott Patterson, president and director of the Hutchinson Foundation. Hutchinson Foundation was founded in 1989 by Dick Dillon and is a tax exempt 501c3 organization. Hutchinson Foundation, like other foundations, serves the specific geographical area of Reno County. One of the fundamental activities is building and developing endowments. Endowments basically work with a principal amount of money that remains intact, however the investment and interest earnings are directed to giving. The foundation offers personal services in advising donors on how to best manage their gifts and other assets, e.g. land. The organization also monitors needs in the community and seeks to match these needs with available resources. To learn more take a look at the website http://www.hutchcf.org/ .
Drawings (another term for dumb luck):
Doug Foss won the 50/50 pot of $24 and pocketed his winnings.
Newsletter Question for the next meeting February 20th :
