HUTCHINSON CHAPTER OF AMBUCS
For the Newsletter – January 9, 2009
Vice President Scott Potucek opened the meeting.
Guests: Mark Clark introduced new member Brandon Blevins. Dan Power introduced new member Dane Power and Sr. British Open Champion, Bruce Vaughn as a guest and todays program.
Larry Sloan led is prayer and Mark Clark led the flag salute.
The Club had breakfast.
Sergeant Knipp fined Steve Harmon for a comment he must have made and then reported that he had no other charges against the members. Tuit holder Bob Bush made up the lost income by fining all those in attendance $2, claiming that he must have seen them sometime for some reason during his extended care of the tuit over the holidays. He then asked Scott Potucek if he would rather pay an additional dollar or take the tuit, thankfully Scott took the tuit ending any further expenditure.
Scott Potucek read a letter from Stu Strecker about the special breakfast in Als honor on January 16th. Jeff Brewer told the club that the special Champagne Breakfast meeting will be a celebration of the clubs good work and accomplishments during the Presidency and leadership of Al Strecker. This will be a special meeting, so invite your significant other to attend with you..
Scott Potucek and sponsors Mark Clark and Dan Power swore in new members Brandon Blevins and Dane Power.
Dan Power, thanks Dane for your assistance, introduced the 2008 Sr. British Open Champion Bruce Vaughn of Hutchinson with a video highlighting the final hole and birdie put for his win at Royal Troon. Bruce told of his introduction to golf by Professional Golfer and Major League Pitcher Ralph Terry when Bruce worked in Larned, Kansas. When asked how Terry had helped him, Bruce said that Ralph taught him that the most important shot in golf is your next one and the need to practice. Bruces career started in local tournaments, the then Nike Tour, international golf and after 6 knee operations he turned 50 and felt ready for the Senior Tour. Bruce answered many questions from the club including what his favorite courses to play were; he quickly answered Royal Troon, Turnburry, Pebble Beach and Westchester. Bruce brought the Claret Jug with him and graciously showed this special trophy
Diane Saunders won $24 in the 50/50 pot.
