HUTCHINSON CHAPTER OF AMBUCS
Vice President Scott Potucek opened the meeting.
Tom Stanton introduced Jerry Hill, Toys for Tots as a guest and todays program.
Jay Pitzer led the prayer, and Pam Brooks led the flag salute.
The Club had breakfast.
Sergeants Knipp and Kicklighter fined several for missing Ambucs poker chips discovered when needed at recent Casino Night. He then recognized and thanked all those who helped at the News and Kutters parties. Scott Potucek paid sort of (IOU) later covered by Jim Shaw for praising the Symphony for its Christmas concert. Fred Conner shared a poster given the club by students who received goody boxes from Santa. Brenda Janda shared a Thank You card from Ella McLaughlin, recent Amtryke recipient. There was an attempt by others to discuss the status of the tuit with current holder Bob Bush who declined comment or to pass the tuit along at this time.
Scott Potucek mentioned plans for a special breakfast in Als honor on January 16th. The Board nominated a new slate of officers by moving the current officers up and electing Dave Shuler as the recording secretary. The January 16th meeting will be dedicated to Al Strecker. This will be a special meeting, so invite your significant others to attend with you.
Tom Stanton introduced Jerry Hill of Toys for Tots; Jerry Hill acknowledged the District Attorneys office as a top collector of toys each year and told the history of the organization started in 1948. Between 5,500 6,000 quality toys are collected in Hutchinson with over 4,000 toys, 500 mittens/gloves and 500 blankets given to needy kids. Jerry said that 1300 toys came from the national program, 1200 toys come from the annual Bike Run, 700 toys from KZSN Radio/Wal-Mart and 600 wooden toys are hand made by inmates of the East Unit of the Hutchinson Correctional Facility and the rest come from local donors. He explained that approx 1500 are saved to start next years campaign so that inmates can mail to loved ones before Thanksgiving.
Randy, Kate and Jane Harder joined the club for breakfast despite Kates Amtryke not being shipped as promised. She will receive the Amtryke as soon as it arrives.
Brad Thompson won the 50/50 pot and donated the $19 to Toys for Tots.
