Since we are on the road for the next two meetings Tom gave the TUIT to himself. Ought to be worth a stupid tax dont ya think? BEWARE!!

PROGRAM:

Randy Henderson introduced Megan Gottschalk, manager of the Reno County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Megan informed us the local chapter was formed in 1917 by Garland Craig and circulated a copy of the minutes of their first meeting. She also passed around copies of print ads that will run this summer showing individuals from all walks of life that can save your life should you have a heart attack to promote ARC CPR training.

Our local chapter offers monthly health and safety classes for individuals as well as corporate training in OSHA approved CPR and First Aid classes. Also, swimming and junior lifeguard training classes are available. Disaster action training (DAT) is available for those who wish to learn how to assist after fires and other natural disasters. A new service to coincide with their bloodmobiles, which are held five times a year, is platelet collection.

Platelet collection will be offered monthly at the ARC office at 111 N. Walnut, the last Sunday of each month. Megan also passed out brochures on Carrier Alert a program they offer jointly with the U.S. Post office.

Carrier Alert is a program where you authorize your postman to watch the mailbox of an elderly single individual for accumulated mail. If that individual does not collect the mail, the postman will take steps to make sure that person is alright based on an agreed upon plan.

If you have any questions or want more information on these or other services offered by the ARC please call them at 662-3336.
