TUIT
This editor finally got the opportunity after 3 weeks of lugging this glorified space junk to collect fines.
Tony P. didnt ask when I came to his office. Steve C. had multiple violations at church and on the phone. Jay P. was disinterested at 17th & Severance. Dan P. didnt ask on the phone or at 56th & Plum. Larry S. did make a gesture at 17th & Severance, but it had nothing to do with the TUIT. Rick M. asked who had the TUIT at Early Ed. Preston made me show the TUIT at 1st and Jefferson. Chuck P. didnt ask in the roundabout. Jim K. didnt ask at the golf scramble. Steve H. didnt ask either.
Then, the TUIT was promptly delivered to Brad Daddy Thompson for safekeeping.
FINES
Sgt. Davis and his bacon devouring assistant Jeff B. went to work.
Curtis M. was fined for the stacked golf team last week. Brad T. received a nostalgia tax. Preston received a fine performed by mirrors.
The dark side of AMBUCS dissipated and gratitude appeared.
Jo Ann thanked those who assisted with the TECH clients displaced by flooding. Jeff B. thanked the membership for the AMBUC scramble with the greatest participation ever. Leslie Kamp was grateful for her Moms successful surgery.
PROGRAM
Randy Hendrickson (Who’s that?) introduced our guest speaker, Hutchinson Zoo Director, Charlotte Poepperling.
Our zoo became a victim of the recent flooding as demonstrated by the PowerPoint presentation. May 23rd began with the birth of two bison calves, but then the rain began. The pond overflowed. The stalls filled with water. The service barn flooded. The habitat building had the carpet ruined. The granary filled with water. The service road was submerged. That was just the first episode. The visitor center flooded in the basement on June 2 and July 5.
Flooding problems were due to the high water table, over seven inches of rain in a single day and extra runoff water from the Hutchinson Public Works Facility. Changes are being made for new drainage on Elm Street; for a new rehab facility on higher ground and a grain bin well above ground level.
The Zoo has received a $50,000.00 donation from the local Cargill plant to assist with their recovery.
Hopefully, the entire zoo facility will be open sometime between August 1st and the 15th.
