Dan Power carried the wacky washer last week.
Paul Brown paid a $1 for not asking at the last Chamber Ambassadors function. The fact that Paul fail to attend the function was not allowed as an excuse. Jay Pitzer failed to asked, which really stumped Dan, as Jay always asks. Nathan Meyer definitely recognized Dan, as he verified Dans identity at First National Bank when his credit card failed. However, Nathan did not remember to ask about the tuit.
Dan passed the tuit to Dennis Reiser, who would have been carrying the tuit instead of Dan had he been at the last meeting.
FINES
Sergeants Jim K and Steve C started by recognizing Dan Power for paying for 4 radio spots in the time it takes to drive from Westminister to the Town Club. Sounds like Dan needs to contact Mr. Deming about the timing on his ads.
Luke McConnaughy, one of our newest members, has changed the name of his and Montes business to One-Hour Air Conditioning and Heating. Luke paid a $1 and offered his new business cards to anyone who asked. Sgt Jim seemed to know more about the whereabouts of Scott Saylors grandson than Scott does. His grandson was attneding a meeting of Cub Pack 303, along with Jim and his son. It pays to know where your grandchildren are in the evening.
Having some time to waste, Jim treated us to several more entries from his Red-Neck Dictionary. You dont even want to know what Al S came up with for be-moan.
PROGRAM
Michael Woods is the Family Service Supervisor for the Hutchinson office of the Kansas Childrens Service League. KCSL has been an advocate for at risk children for 125 years and the Hutchinson office is located at 400 W. 2nd, Suite D.
KCSLs services to children and their families are centered around home-based intervention, with the professionals coming to the home or pre-school setting to evaluate and design programs to aide the childs social and learning skills. The program which KCSL is usually identified with is Adoption and Foster Care Services. There is never a shortage of children in need of a home. The KCSL recruits adoptive parents and foster families to help fill this need. More recently, the focus has been on prevention through the Healthy Family program. Child abuse and neglect can be a result of stresses within the family. By identifying where and how various stresses are affecting the family, modification can be introduced, potentially relieving the excess stress and heading off pending problems.
Funding has been received to initiate a pilot program that provides family advocates to evaluate 4 year olds in their pre-school setting as they prepare for kindergarten. The purpose is to identify behaviors that may become problems in the public school setting. If evaluation identifies behaviors to be modified, a behavioral interventionist can be provided through the program.
Mr. Woods suggested that anyone who wishes to become involved with the Kansas Childrens Service League can contact him at 664-5000. They are always in need of persons to be on the Community Council that promotes fund-raising and seeks out volunteers.
