TUIT
Monte McConnaughy FINALLY brought the TUIT back among the AMBUCS! He offered excuses about Friday surgeries, being out of town and things like that. It sounded like he was surprised when he tried a couple of weeks ago to have his brother, Luke bring it back for him, only for Luke to return it to him that same day. Nice try Monte and of course it’s not fair!
Some folks asked Luke about the TUIT, but since he didn’t have it, Bill Long was fined a dollar. Don Grossardt forgot to ask about it. Everyone remembered to ask Monte last night at the AMBUC sponsored Business After Hours at TECH. However, Monte ended up having to pay a few dollars since he didn’t have it with him when some AMBUCS did ask him about it.
Monte drew a name out of a bag to pass the TUIT on, but, since Dennis Reiser wasn’t present today, he had to draw again. Congratulations to Dan Power who is the proud holder of the TUIT for the next week. After 4 weeks with the TUIT, Monte passed it to Dan and said: “Have fun with it.I’m DONE”.
FINES
Kicklighter and Strecker were responsible for collecting fines from everyone today.
Paul Brown was fined for his photo in the Bee w/ no AMBUCS pin visible. Jay Pitzer paid a dollar as he continues to have his wife, Donna, shovel the snow and mow the grass with a push mower. Actually Jay, you are now my personal hero on how to run a household! Tom Stanton was late for the meeting. Greg West paid a fine for his gas pump topper advertising at Phillips 66. Kip Hildebrandt lost his AMBUCS pin.
Jim Kicklighter then moved on to conduct a redneck vocabulary test. Duke Higgins didn’t know that Bombardier means “bomb a deer”. Pam Brooks didn’t know Digest means “died just” 3 days after mamma. John Knipp struggled with Holy, meaning that “hole he” dug was deep. Randall Haltom at least had a response to the word Manifold, meaning “man I fold” the laundry pretty darn good.
PROGRAM
Randy Henderson introduced Dorothy Barnett, the new Reno County 20/20 Growth Coordinator. Dorothy has lived in Hutchinson for the last 25 years and has been very involved in the community. Dorothy will focus on community development growth in her position in the entire county.
Mrs. Barnett announced the Reno County Teen Job Fair coming Saturday, May 5th from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Materials and information was distributed to all Reno County schools and over 100 teenagers who are interested in jobs will attend the event. She is asking for employers to come to the event to talk to the teenagers and even pre-screen them for employment. The teens can also be interested in temporary projects such as painting and mowing.
Dorothy has a public office located at the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce. The Coalition is currently working on an incentive program to move families to Reno County, one family at a time.
