There were mumblings about the price of oil, so Eric, Paul B and someone else learned a lesson not to mumble. Paul H and Dean were late arrivals and other guys were thrown under the bus, a more benevolent way to say ratting them out. Although Doug knew nothing about it, but he was fined for three Amtrykes at Health Equip. Sergeant Stan was fined for advertising, there is more to that story, but your editor forgot. Harley Macklin reported on plans for the State of the City event to take place at the Stringer Fine Arts Building on January 21, 2015 with ceremonies beginning at 7:00 a.m. He is urging every Ambuc to plan to attend this event in order to increase more awareness of our club. The club collected some money from the members in order to thank our waitress Becky with a Christmas present. Todays Program, Nikkee Byard Site Coordinator for Communities in Schools. She explained that her work at Hutchinson High School strives to help kids who have challenges that need support and tutoring in order to receive a diploma. Some kids have all Fs in their classes, others miss classes, others live in poverty. One student works on roofs to earn money to buy food for his family. Other kids have parents, but no parental support. The goal in tutoring these kids is to get a D grade which is passing. Basic necessities such as toothpaste, soap, clothing are provided by donations and quickly taken off the table. Ms. Byard works with 76 kids and has an annual budget of $2,500. She is funded by the State of Kansas as she a social worker. Several churches help support her work. If you want to assist Ms. Byard in her work you can call her cell phone, 620-899-6991. Lucky Ace drawing, Harley Macklin drew the 3 of spades and won $5. He donated his $5 to Ms. Byard which caused all the members to match it. The pot increases to $51.
