We have a correction for last week!
This editor identified Weston Unruh as a guest of the wrong Nazarene.
Greg West was actually the host.
Jeff Brewer said he never has a guest so we know it wasnt him.
TUIT
Greg West collected premiums from Duke W. bicycling past his house, Lee G. golfing, Terry B. talking with Gregs mother and Brad T. for talking to his realtor without asking about the TUIT.
Preston C. asked at church.
Then Greg, still embittered for not receiving credit for bringing a guest, delivered the TUIT to this editor.
(Thanks again!)
FINES
Sgt. Ward and Asst. Guy were on patrol for monetary gain.
S. Eric was fined for being late specifically 7:15. Luke M. was also late. Jeff B. still complained about a certain Baptist. Bob B. was sold a “lost” golf ball. Brad T. bought a fine to sell the Sgts cell phone to Doug F. The phone unfortunately rang immediately; and Doug F. was fined for taking a call during the meeting. Chuck P. was fined for being badgeless. Curtis M. was fined for a ringing phone as well. Mark T. paid a political advertising fee in advance. Jo Ann Williams paid a celebration fee for her granddaughters first birthday, Taylor Marie.
PROGRAM
Mark Treaster, fellow AMBUC and state representative, provided an update on the activities of the 2007 legislative session. There were 201 bills passed, 4 bills vetoed and 4 vetoed line items in the budget. For a full listing of all the legislation go to www.kansas.gov to review the bills.
The Eaton bill passed to assist in the downsizing of the plant to preserve jobs in Reno County. The Medicaid rules were modified to allow more children to qualify for coverage. Taxes were reduced in the area of unemployment compensation; and franchise taxes will be phased out over a five-year period. A primary seat belt law was passed for persons aged 14 to 17 years. English was adopted as the official state language. Gaming was passed for possible casinos in Wyandotte Co., Sedgwick Co., Dodge City and Southeast Kansas.
We thank Mark for his willingness to serve fellow Kansans and share with his fellow AMBUCS.
