PROGRAM
Marcy Kaufman came to give us details of two upcoming fundraisers for T.E.C.H.
The 3rd Annual Texas Holdem Poker Tournament will be held Sunday, April 1st at McGraws. Check-in begins at 2:00 PM with play starting at 3:00 PM. A $30 donation is requested. There will be a lot of prizes donated by local businesses. The Grand Prize, which we help sponsor, is a trip for two to Las Vegas. Tickets are available at either TECH or McGraws or you can pay at the door.
The second fundraiser is the Main Street Hops for T.E.C.H. This event will be held in Downtown Hutchinson on Friday, May 4th, 5:30 to 8:30 PM. 15 different business will have tastings of 1 of 15 different imported craft beers, no domestics. These will consist of 2 oz. Sample cups with hors oeuvres being served that compliment that particular beer. Each business participating will have specials in conjunction with the event. 400 tickets will be available to purchase at $35.00 each which entitles the participant to a wristband and access to the 15 businesses to taste and socialize. Non drinkers can participate for $15.00 a ticket. A photo ID will be required.
100 volunteers will be needed to work the event. There will be two training sessions in April for volunteers, which will include some sampling of the beers. Volunteers will not be drinking during the event. Next week there will be volunteer sign-up sheets available. Starting points will be at both DCI and Ave. A park. Maps will be provided. Flyers for both events will be available starting next week.
Club Announcements
NJCAA Tournament T-Shirts: Shifts for working the NJCAA tournament started Sunday with setup and continue through this next weekend.
The work shifts for the booth are posted on our Hutchinson AMBUCS web site. Please check for your shifts. When it’s your time, be sure to arrive a few minutes before your shift starts. The work shift page is at www.hutchambucs.org/teeshifts.pdf, or there is a link to the page on our home page, just to left of the middle of the page.
The telephone number for the West Booth is 727-7609 and the East Booth is 727-1157. Special thanks to Tom Hymer and ALLTEL for providing us with these telephones.
Hutch AMBUCS Web Site: Some members have experienced difficulty accessing our web site this past week. This is very spotty, and currently seems to be related to specific Internet Service Providers. The technicians at our web host have been unable to duplicate the problem at their end, but have sent instructions for a possible solution. If you are having these problems, contact Jack Mace for a copy of the instructions.
Discussions are underway with LogicMaze Web Design for possible help with managing and development of our website.
Second Reading: A second reading for $200 to help support a carnival fundraiser for the Early Ed Center for the purchase of playground equipment. Motion passed.
Publicity Committee: We still need two more club members to step forward to be on the publicity committee, which includes writing our club newsletter for an eight-week term.
Next Year’s Officers: Bob Bush is looking for officers and committee chairman for his upcoming regime. Interested?
