GUESTS
Cris Corey: Guest of Doug Foss
Special Guests of the Club:
Grace Villa with her parents, Jesus Villa and Luz Villa
TUIT REPORT
World traveler, Tom Hymer, has yet to return with our old friend. Beware of accumulating fines from our elusive Sgt. at Arms. BTW! The TUIT says, “High!”
PROGRAM:
What better program than an AMTRYKE presentation! Three year old Grace Villa was our special guest on this occasion. Grace was sent home from the hospital not expected to live. The miracle child survived and was the recipient of her very own AMTRYKE. As soon as she spotted her new ride, A Tryke! was her response. Grace was accompanied by her parents Jesus and Luz Gomez; and her therapist from the Early Education Center, Cary Bowman. Grace thanked the AMBUCS, but her beaming smile was more than enough for us.
President Joann Williams and outgoing District 5-D Governor Doug Foss reported on the AMBUC National Convention in North Carolina. Hutchinson AMBUCS was recognized for donating five or more AMTRYKES, for being a Merit Club and presented with a 50th anniversary Living Endowment badge for our new awards banner. Doug Foss was recognized for being a Superior District Governor (4th in the nation). The convention was attended by approximately 500 people. Convention events included a Wednesday family reunion, a 36 AMTRYKE rodeo (which were given away including one from us), the Big Hat Auction which raised more than $37,000 and the dedication of the new AMBUC National Resource Center (8,000 square feet). Kip Miles, a notorious AMBUC, was elected National Big Hat President. JoAnn and Doug brought back AMBUC golf shirts as prizes for the upcoming golf tournament.
You do not have to be an officer to attend a National Convention. Make plans to attend the next National Convention and meet AMBUCS from across the country.
Club Announcements
ICE CREAM BOOTH: Sign up now for a minimum of three shifts-four hours in length. We are fortunate as a club to have fundraising projects which are highly productive and limited in terms of time commitment. Please make yourself available during the 10 days of the Kansas State Fair to assist with the operations of the booth. Invite a fellow AMBUC to join you for a scheduled shift. MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE: August 5, 2005 at 6:15 A.M. at the Town Club. Your presence is respectfully requested.
Web Host Move: You should know by now that we are moving our Hutchinson AMBUCS web page to a new host computer on the Internet. The migration is going slower than expected, due to “broken” codes that just don’t work properly. However, when things are complete the actual move should be transparent to all users. We will keep things per the old status quo until everything checks out properly.
When the website is working, and the move is complete, there will be no changes in the way you use the website. Even the web address (URL) will remain the same.
FINES
BIG HATTERS were in charge. Doyle last laugh Ehling was presiding. Jack was fined first as a matter of principle. Tony, Guy and Eric were fined for no Big Hats. Preston was fined for his Billy Bob attire. Stan was fined for something about an ugly dog. Fines were purchased for JoAnns granddaughters 2nd birthday and for Jeff and Pat Brewers 33rd wedding anniversary.
