John Deardoff, Hutchinson City Manager, guest of Lori Hopp
TUIT REPORT
Eric Steinle continues to carry the tuit for next week.
PROGRAM:
Lori Hopp introduced John Deardoff, our new city manager. John moved to Hutchinson from Dodge City to fill the position. John attended Trinity High School in Hutchinson, graduated and attended college in Dodge City at St. Marys with a degree in political science. Mr. Deardoff had been the city manager in Dodge City for the last 10 years. John has been married for 22 years and has 3 kids.
John stated that he was drawn to Hutchinson for several reasons, including, the small town feel, tourism, sports, special events (fair, golf tournaments, basketball tournaments) and the strong leadership. John sees many opportunities to bring in new business to Hutchinson as well to grow current businesses. Johns first priority as city manager is to get acquainted with the cities organizations, unions, etc. He wants to have great relationships with the chamber of commerce, schools and others. John would like get to know our city council and the issues they are interested in. John is currently working on the staffing issues at city hall and knows that Hutchinson will attract good people. Downtown revitalization is an issue that Mr. Deardoff is interested in as well.
Club Announcements
2nd Reading: 2nd Reading approved for $750.00 to be donated by the club to Kansas Special Olympics.
TECH Donation: Jo Ann Williams acknowledged AMBUCS donations to TECH for the computer learning lab via a plaque. Ambucs are listed under the Terabyte Club.
FINES
Vicki Fultz was fined for losing her keys.again. Vicki also paid a dollar to insure that Paul Brown and Steve Conard would not sit by her after they both were fined for needing to be separated. Scott Horton, Rick Mitchell and Greg West were fined for talkingalthough Greg was just listening! Jay Pitzer was punished for comments about Indians or something?!? Doug Foss refused to shake hands with anyone at the meeting, something about not feeling well, but we all know it is from some other obsessive/compulsive behavior. Jo Ann Williams and Greg West paid a dollar for having a private meetingagain, I was just listening. Monte McConnaughy was fined for expecting a child.congratulations Monte!…..the club members should have all paid Monte a dollar.hes going to need every dollar he can get his hands on! Jace Mace was fined for not completing his building project yet. Bob Bush held a deck of cards and proceeded to amuse himself by having one table pick a number between 1 and 10.they all lost when Bob revealed the number to be 5.75. Stan Macgirvin was fined for reminiscing about a time when voting meant something..prior to a womens right to vote.ouch!!
