PROGRAM: Kathy Hanks introduced Darren Busick the Reno County Extension agriculture agent who is helping to organize the Cattle Drive in Buhler for the second year in a row. While not really a Cattle Drive in the historical sense it is a bull showing from Kansas producers. There will be 34 pens lining Main Street from the Buhler High School to the downtown area. And for those fortunate enough to be there at 9:00 AM last Friday did get to see the bulls paraded down Main Street into those pens. Booths from related vendors have increased from 40 last year to 70 and will be located at BHS in the vocal and band rooms and adjacent hallways. There will be an education stage with several guest speakers, a rancher/producer stage and a demonstration arena. Other partners in the event are the local FFA chapter, Reno County Cattlemens Association and the K-State Extension Service. Darren said the reason he chose Buhler for the event was that he wanted that hometown agriculture feel and Buhler also has one of the strongest FFA chapters in the nation. Last year approximately 700 people attended the event and they are hoping for an even larger turnout this year. Another upcoming event will be an Ag Showcase including a job fair at Memorial Hall on March 24th.
