TUIT REPORT

Shawn Teichmann treated the Tuit to a well deserved vacation at Disneyland. Naturally, Shawn ran the Tuit through the service bay

at Conklin in preparation for the long journey. They gave it a one wheel alignment and balance. Finally back from vacation, they saw

Joel Cash who neglected to ask. Dennis Reiser did, however, Duke Wiggins, Fred Conner and others did not ask at church.

They saw Jack Mace at Kwik Shop. Jay Pitzer kind of remembered, he finally asked half way through his conversation with Shawn.

They saw Duke walking at the mall. Fred came through Conklin. Shawn stated that we had no idea how hard it was to go through

security at the airports with the Tuit. Actually, Dan Power laughed and said, yes some of us do. Finally, after traveling all that way,

the Tuit met up with Eric Steinle for a picture. It may have been the lighting, but honestly, Eric reminded me of the Disney character Goofey.

Larry Sloan with those hansom tanned legs received the Tuit his week.

PROGRAM:

Pat Fallon introduced Sara Johnston, a recipient of local and national Ambucs scholarships and student at Newman University. Sara is in the Occupational Therapy program at Newman and is preparing for field work at Childrens Mercy and Research hospitals in Kansas City and Oregon.

She gave an overview on occupational therapy(OT). A majority of OT recipients are recovering from repetitive motion injuries or strokes. OT differs from Physical therapy in that PT gets you mobile and OT works on completing constructive tasks.

FINES COLLECTED

Vicki Fultz and Eric Steinle were fined for not wearing their badges. Eric was wearing his pink badge from the banquet, that did not satisfy Bush. Vicki tried to place the fines toilet lid cover on Bushs seat (that did not come out right). Bush declined. Larry Sloan was fined for missing the board meeting. Jeff Frizzell was fined for being late to the Board Meeting. Randall Haltom was late. Brad Thompson was fined for not training the current Sgt. Jason Jones, Paul Brown, Doug Foss and Bob Norris were all fined for wearing yellow shirts, Bush was clearly the first one to call yellow shirts for the day. Eric was fined for placing last in the Little River race. After Eric was tapped for fine money, a picture of him at the Installation banquet was offered for sale. He could not pay, so David Ross bailed him out. Bad idea. They pounced on David, but he did not have more fine money. Bush will be by to see you next week.

Publicity Committee Meeting:Friday, June 18, 2004 6:15am at the Town Club

FINES COLLECTED

Thank you to Brad and all of his sidekicks for their lighthearted and occasionally nearly offensive antics on Friday mornings. After the new Sgt. Bush introduced himself, he laid down the law. Any IOU will be met with shark interest, double the next week. Another good thing to remember, neutral colors and dont call undo attention to yourself.

First the gavel was sold to Vicki for the premium of five dollars. Tony Powers bought a quarter of his badge back after dropping it. Late attenders included Duke Wiggins, Amy Craig, John Knipp and Jim Remar. Bush piped off something to the affect of Remar, just because you are so tall, dont think you can get away with it. Steve Harmon was fined for wearing a Stuckey Lumber jacket. Steve the store is closed and the building was torn down, let it go, let it go. Dan Power (who paid the EJ gang) was fined for butchering the spelling of Ambucs in his business literature. Its AMBUCS, not SIPC. Darren Wicks was fined for exclaiming we want Brad back. Brenda Janda was fined for not coming since 1996. Our resident Chamber Ambassadors where fined for a lousy job of recruiting Ambuc members .

Jason Jones bought an advertising tax for the promotion of pet CPR classes.

Installation Banquet

Lots of toilet paper, some alcohol, bathroom noises, silly string, some crme pies and several offensive remarks made for great evening at the Installation Banquet. Thanks to Jeff Frizzell and all of his gang for a fun evening.

PROGRAM:

Larry Sloan introduced Glenn Jacobson of Thyssenng Construction/Canada. They are currently building the shaft for the Hutchinson Salt Museum and Underground Vaults & Storage near Ave. G and Airport Road. When completed, the shaft will be 12 feet in diameter and 650 feet deep. The shaft is lined with concrete one to two feet thick; and will take approximately a year to construct.

Blasting is the means used for removal of the soil and rock in the path of the shaft. According to Glenn, the largest shaft built by his company was 30 feet in diameter and took 2 years to complete for a gold mining company.

(Did an AMBUC really ask this question:

Do you bring the men out of the shaft when you blast?)

TUIT REPORT

Contrary to the report in last weeks newsletter, Monte McConnaughy did not possess the Tuit. It was Stan Macgirvin

who held the circular wonder. (Stan admits he did feel younger and could finally face himself in the mirror!) Stan

welcomed one of our newest members, Shawn Teichmann, by blessing him with the Tuit. Shawn will be standing

on the corner of 11th & K-61 proudly displaying it! (The Tuit, that is.)

PROGRAM:

Prior to the infamous drawings below, Jo Ann Williams was to introduce our speaker, Jay Smith of the Reno County Museum. However, Mr. Smith was apparently lost in the archives and will be appearing at a later date. Our valued President, Eric Steinle, leaped, or perhaps leapt, to the rescue by introducing multiple AMBUCS OF THE DAY. The honored members were Shawn Teichmann, Kent Harris, Chuck Peterson, Kevin McCarthy, Al Strecker and Preston Clark. If you wish to know more about them, just sit at their table next meeting.

Club Announcements

Ice Cream Booth: June 19-24, 2004. Great North American RV Rally. The sign-up sheet is being circulated for workers for this event. Please volunteer for two shifts so that we have sufficient staff. (This will be much slower paced compared to the volume of customers at the Kansas State Fair. New members are encouraged to come learn the techniques of waffle cone making and ice cream dipping while the training opportunity exists. You will need to develop these skills now for use in September.)

T-SHIRT BOOTH: Little River Suicide Hill Trail Run, Saturday, May 29, 2004. Our thanks to Don Grossardt, Jessica Sadowsky, Doug Foss and Jeff Frizzell for their commitment to operate the T-shirt booth at this event. They will be preparing T-shirts in advance on Friday evening and handling sales throughout Saturday morning. Proceeds benefit children who are counting on us.

MEMBERSHIP CONTEST: Our next meeting is the last opportunity to bring a guest or new member for the contest. Points will be totaled; and the team leaders will be appropriately punished. Our thanks to Greg West for leading the club to Blue Chip status. If you check the awards on our banners, you can see that it has been a number of years since that has been achieved.

INSTALLATION BANQUET: Friday, June 4, 2004 – V.F.W. Meeting Hall, 4th & Van Buren. There is still time to reserve your places for the banquet. A sign-up sheet is being circulated at the meetings and reservations may be made with Jeff Frizzell at 665-5551(Ext. 312) or by e-mail at JEFFFRIZZELL@KANOX.COM. Miss Vicki and her fledgling crew will be swearing allegiance to the AMBUCS masses after the dinner provided at the clubs expense. Drinks are at the expense of the members. Social hour-6:00 P.M. Dinner approximately-7:00 P.M.

DONATIONS APPROVED: The membership approved a $600.00 donation to TECH for the purchase of a computer and the donation of an AMTRYKE at the National Convention to the Denver Childrens Hospital. Our time and effort allows these donations to be made.

PROGRAM:

Randy Henderson introduced the members of the Midwest Life Team Helicopter Crew, Clay Cox and Jason Brewer. Clay is a flight paramedic with 7 years of experience. Jason is a pilot with extensive military and civil flight history. The helicopter service is based in Hutchinson and operates primarily within a 100-mile radius. Emergency medical services are provided quickly due to the 5 minute lift-off time and the 120 M.P.H. capabilities of the aircraft. Patients are delivered to the closest appropriate facility. Flights occur 24/7 and in all weather except for freezing rain, lightning and hail. To assist with nighttime flights, landing lights have been deployed with EMS units throughout Reno County.

Sheriff Henderson wishes to add his thanks to the Midwest Life Team for their assistance to law enforcement at no charge. Which is no small matter since a helicopter base is a 1.5 million dollar investment!

TUIT REPORT

Having been sent to the cleaners, apparently there was a stain that wouldnt come out without a longer soaking.Be sure and ask

Scott Saylor how the process is coming along.

PROGRAM:

Our own computer expert Joel Cash spoke on Spyware, dealing with what it is, how you get it, how you get rid of it, and how you prevent getting it. The main purpose of Spyware is to gather information from you about your computer usage, without your active consent. The most prevalent method of getting Spyware is through downloading software. It piggy backs into your system as you install the software. In the biz, it is called a Drive by Download. Search Bars often come with Adware, MP3 downloads and peer-to-peer sharing are common paths, and a key-stroke monitor can be used to gain passwords or financial information.

All of this falls into a borderline criminal activity by hackers. The government is trying to get involved in preventing deceptive practices. There are several programs available to find, remove, and prevent Spyware. One popular program is Spybot Search & Destroy, which is free, with the author asking for donations to continue keeping it up to date. Another program that is a good follow-up to Spybot is Adaware. Links to these and others can be found at Spywareinfo.com.

Some hints for prevention include avoiding file sharing software, avoid Internet Explorer Tool Bar additions, and avoid email attachments that you are not expecting. In case you think this is just a minor nuisance, one industry expert reports there are 1000 new spyware programs showing up, PER DAY.

FINES COLLECTED

Spend a Penny with Brad Thompson If there are any Brits reading this, explain it to the rest. Otherwise, just remember Brads Motto Theres nothing like a good B.M. Being a Big Hat Breakfast, there were a few that paid to leave their Big Hat at home, including Paul Brown, Terry Brigman, Steve Conard, Rod Fry, Eric Steinle, Tony Powers, and even the head wiper Jeff Brewer. JoAnn Williams paid to not have to wear her Big Hat (avoiding the dreaded Hat Hair). Actually, JoAnn would have paid, but didnt have any money, which led to the discovery that she doesnt have any of the stuff a Big Hat is supposed to be filled with. Eric Steinle was pounded for being late, for having his picture in a local rag, and for not bringing a guest during Spring Roundup. Apparently being an attorney, and therefore having NO friends, was not an acceptable excuse. Doug Foss got hit for bad short and/or bald jokes. Dwight Ferguson got hit for bashing the Sergeant, and no one came to his defense. Is this bashing? Remember, he is the one walking around making up crap, just to fill his toilet. Denise was hit for missing one meeting. Nancy Ditges was hit for almost being late, and for missing several meetings. Illness is no excuse, according to the Tidy Bowl Man. Vicki Fultz paid a fine in advance, since Brad thinks there soon wont be any money left now that she has a two-year old in the house. Her comment that Brad was not as dumb as he looked got her another fine. Keith Schroeder paid for having his name in the paper so often, Steve Harmon paid for his wifes Easter People, outgoing Big Hat President Stan MacGirvin paid to get out of office, or for his 35th Birthday, Jay Pitzer was feeling left out and got hit for talking, and Sheriff Henderson was accused of being late. Since he wasnt, he was fined for abandoning Brad on the golf course, leaving him stuck with Jay for the remainder of the round. Vicki cheered when she thought the time on the toilet was over, and paid again.

He can inspect electrical motors, controllers, panels, poles, lines, and is even branching out to inspecting dogs before they go to a breeders auction. The camera can sense temperature changes from up to 300 feet away.

The cameras were huge when first developed, but were then refined and perfected by NASA. The current state of the art is slightly larger than a small hand held camcorder. Chuck says they are on sale this week for only $36,000 per unit. The uses for this camera are only limited by our own imaginations.

He is now providing energy conservation inspections, checking for heat loss in insulated buildings and homes. He can check for water leaks in roofs and walls, and provide information regarding damage inside a structure before tearing out walls or ceilings. Home inspections are priced on a per job basis, but there is a two hour minimum at $100 per hour.

Next Meeting, April 30

Big Hat President

Stan McGirvin (a.k.a. Marvin)

will introduce our own Joel Cash of

Network Management Group, Inc.

Joel will update us on office

technology and “spyware.”

Brian Carlton: Jeff Brewer asked that we all remember to pray for Brian Carlton, the young man injured in the bike accident on the bike trail. After a lengthy hospital stay, he will be in a rehabilitation hospital in Lincoln, NE. There will probably be numerous opportunities for our club to assist Brian and his family as he transitions to a life with limited mobility.

Installation Banquet:June 4 Lots of Entertainment Ambucs Dignitaries Lots of Fun Details To Be Announced Dont Miss It

Committee Preference Sheets: Vicki Fultz wants your name on a Committee Preference Sheet, and she will do almost anything to get it. If you dont turn one in, she may even fill one out for you. Assuming you have a preference as to which committee you help out, maybe you ought to turn one in. Otherwise, you could be assigned to being the key keeper for the president (this job also requires paying the fines when she loses them).

Big Hat Breakfast: By the time you read this, you probably missed the Big Hat Breakfast on Tuesday morning. Call Stan MacGirvin for details, or call Doug Foss and see how last weeks meeting went.

FINES COLLECTED

The Toilet Times Apparently Brad Thompson forgot to bring enough reading material for this weeks trip to the pot. Keith Schroeder was hit for being late, and his table mates were chastised for not greeting him in a loud attention-getting manner. Bob Bush paid for bragging about his golf game, and Rod Fry got fined for either day dreaming or actually paying attention to Bob and his gold yarns. Naturally, Vicki Fultz lost her keys again, and Brad Thompson attempted to extort some of her big winnings from last week. Brad has been around enough women to know better than to think that money would have lasted a week. The key auction was short and not very entertaining, since we all knew we would have many more opportunities to buy Vickis keys, every Friday. Good thing we have RCAT, in case you need to get somewhere without them keys.

On a much brighter note, Sharla Meisenheimer passed out Its A Girl cigars, since Friday was Adoption Day for Alisa Fultz. Congratulations Vicki, and good luck.

World Famous Race Car Driver Travis West, Kent Harris, Paul Maldonado, and Shawn Teichmann.

TUIT REPORT

Bob Bush had a lovely week with the tuit, even managing to nail the Sarge himself. Besides Brad Thompson, others donating to the cause included Sharla Meisenheimer, Bill Long, Don Grossardt, Jeff Brewer, Debbie Cowl, Eric Steinle, Scott Horton, Greg West, and Randy Henderson. After carefully surveying the room, Bob passed the tuit on to Sharla Meisenheimer, for perturbing him.

PROGRAM:

Debbie Cowl introduced Gene Schmidt, President of Hutchinson Hospital. After opening with a good joke about Eric Steinle and his moral dilemma, Gene went on to relate it to Health Care in this country, since we are faced with deciding who gets Health Care, and how much do they get. Our Health Care System and the people providing the Health Care can do far more for each individual than we can afford. Where do you draw the line? How do you decide where to draw the line? As we conquer acute illness, we live longer, and are now dying of chronic illness.

During Genes 18 years at Hutchinson Hospital and its parent Health Care Inc., it has grown from employing 700 to 1450. The average wage is 17.75 per hour, and a nurse starts at 47K per year. The hospital now teams with Hutch Community College to help nursing assistants continue working while attending school to complete nursing degrees. Of the first 20 participants in this program, only 10 were able to complete their LPN degree. However, that added 10 new nurses to the staff, and doubled their salary. Some of those have continued on to receive their RN Degree.

Club Announcements

Installation Banquet: Jeff Frizell announced the Installation Banquet will be Friday June 4, with enough fun for everyone. Details to follow, pending Vicki Fultzs sharing of the wealth from her newsletter winnings.

Election: Greg West wants you to vote for him, at the Highlands, although he failed to mention what office in particular he was running for.

Second Reading: Amtryke for Jacob Dick. Amtryke for Kaleb Walender from Independence, MO, through Childrens Mercy Hospital in K.C., off of the National Wish List. Donation of $250 to Reno County Special Olympics, bringing our total donation for the year to $750, matching last year.

FINES COLLECTED

Potty Talk Brad Thompson was back to his usual antics, nailing everybody, and some people twice.

Amy Craig apparently posed for a revealing picture, (not taken by this fotographer), and in spite of threatening to hurt Brad, she still paid 5 bucks to keep it off the internet.

Several were fined for being late, some who might not have actually been. However, Brad didnt know who to believe, and got them all, including she who tried to vouch for others, JoAnn Williams. Those accused of being late included Cheryl Goodell, Cliff Miller, Dean Brigman, Scott Horton, John Knipp, Bob Bush, and Jason Jones. About this time,

Brad turned around, and said something most of the room could not hear. Maybe he should take up politics, learning to talk out of both sides.

Modifying his AMBUCS Invitation Card Check, he now says it better not be a worn card, indicating you are actually handing them out on a regular basis. Many attempted to hide the wallet marks, but most paid.

Our session in the bathroom ended with the Sheriff auctioning off the keys to the newly-elected Presidents Limo. No word on what she was willing to pay for them. She may have to resort to carrying only one key, which she could hide on her body, instead of leaving that 5 pound rat’s nest of keys laying around on the table all time.
