GUESTS: Ron Sylvester, our guest speaker, and Christine McKeown both with The Hutchinson News.

FINES: John Knipp soloed as Sergeant. Paul Hardenburger paid because his daughter Julia had a write up in The Hutchinson Newsagain. Troy Thode paid for a story he told but it wasnt repeatedhmmm. Darren Wicks was fined for making eye contact with the sergeant at the wrong moment and Paul Brown and Dwight Wiehl paid for sitting with a guilty party. Dane Power paid the customary Presidential fine. You know youre getting old whenyou cant remember what happened last Friday without neat accurate notes and you cant read your own handwriting.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Troy Thode requested candidates for next years slate of officers. So volunteer now or he will come hunt you down.

Darren Wicks said he didnt have totals yet but sales were down for the NJCAA Tournament at 609 shirts compared to approximately 800 last year.

Doyle Ehling announced that Rodeo season will be here in about a month and you know what that means.

PROGRAM: Kathy Hanks introduced Ron Sylvester, Managing Editor of the Hutchinson News. Ron has been in Hutchinson at The News for 2 years. Ron presented a Power Point presentation extolling the assets we have here in Hutchinson; The Cosmosphere, Stratica, The Fox Theatre, NJCAA Tournament and The Kansas State Fair just to name a few. We are very lucky to have 2 of the 8 Wonders of Kansas right here in our hometown. The Hutchinson News was recently purchased by GateHouse Media. The News is #3 of the top 10 Kansas newspapers by circulation. He talked about how the market has changed over the years along with the demographics and how newspapers are adapting to meet the changes, but they still need subscribers. One of the new changes, The News recently purchased several URLs for new websites one of which is kansasquakes.com. The News is a very involved community based paper who will report our local news in the best possible way and has since 1895. They want to continue that tradition into the distant future and they need our help and support to do that.
