Sergeants Corner:
Sheriff Brad and Deputy Stan M returned this week to harass members and collect fines. As noted above, no guests means every one pays $1. While collecting their fines, they noticed three members who failed to display their membership pins. Scott P, Jeff B, and John K paid an additional $1 for this oversight. Brad allowed Harley M to float an IOU to advertise the Red T Golf Classic next Friday at 8:30 at Sand Creek Station Golf Course.
Announcements:
1. Paul H reported on the status of the Sweet Shoppe building project. Move in is still on target for this week. Most remaining work will be inside clean-up in nature. Lots of volunteers needed; no specific skill required.
2. Harley M announced that plans are being made for this years State of the City Meeting. Tentatively the location is planned for the auditorium of the Fine Arts Center on the HCC campus. He will keep us advised of further developments.
3. Doug F called a meeting of the Community Affairs Committee for 6:00 next Friday morning.
4. Doug F announced a fund-raising program for Circles of Hope at Trinity United Church on Saturday, August 2nd at 7:00 PM in the Warner Wing. Admission is $8.00 and entertainment will be provided by the musical group Run Boy Run.
Program:
Jack Manske and Kristen Garlow Piper brought us an update on the Wiley Plaza refurbishing project, a creative response to a growing demand for rental living in the area. In addition to approximately 11,500 square feet of retail space, it is comprised of 73 one, two, and three bedroom apartments. Projected availability date is 12/24/14, and there is a waiting list of over 170 interested parties at this time. The total cost of the project is $18 million dollars, and they expect having no problem in maintaining to required 93% occupancy level.
Drawings:
The Lucky Aces opportunity went to Darren W, who went home $5 richer. The total for next Friday is $738. The Newsletter drawing was Larry S, but he lost out by exiting early. The question for $10 for next week is What is the new name for the Wiley Building?.
