MEETING: Friday 14, 2014 Happy Valentines Day EDITOR: Tom Hymer

THE WEEKLY FUND RAISER: Sergeants Brad and Stan collected money from Paul Hardenburger for tardiness, wanted to fine untouchable Dennis, but fined Chuck instead, assessed Dane Power with the weekly presidential tax, Tom for a Tomasina quip, Darren for greeting the ladies, and Brenda for being herself. Others were fined but the editor was distracted by getting another cup of coffee. When the bell rang everyone was happy.

TUIT REPORT: Mark Treaster took the Tuit to a KU basketball game, then went to a Disco Club restaurant, but nobody asked him about the Tuit, probably because he kept it in his pocket. Then he bequeathed the Tuit to his table mate Jay Pitzer.

PROGRAM: Jeff Roberson introduced todays program presented by Paul Hawkins director of the South Central Kansas Library System. SCKLS serves many communities in order to provide excellent library services in smaller communities with 147 schools. In addition to paper and book resources e-reading comprises 17% to 27% in the libraries. The SCKLS also promotes literacy reading programs during the summer months. Mr. Hawkins believes that physical libraries are essential for resources and education as schools with traditional libraries achieve better test scores.

DRAWINGS: The Lucky Aces Pot was won by Tom Hymer and he got $5. The winner each week will draw a card from a deck of cards. There is now $201 in the pot. Rules of the Lucky Aces Pot – the Joker gets nothing, any card besides the Ace of Spades get $5. Ace of Spades wins the Lucky Aces pot according to what has accumulated in it. Also Tom Hymer won the Newsletter pot of $10. For $5 the Newsletter question for the meeting on February 21st, how many schools are served by the SCKLS?
