PROGRAM: Understanding the health insurance marketplace was conducted by Jackie Johnston, Jan Potter, and Jill Foss. The work of the Navigators is a key component of the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act. Having their office in Prairie Star Health Center, Navigators Foss and Potter are non-political, as their work is to assist visitors to find health care insurance options. They are funded by a Federal Grant and are 100% neutral. Prairie Star offers regular health care and dental. Over 26,000 appointments were made last year. Their presentation included the steps to create an account and decide on insurance options available by Blue Cross Blue Shield and Coventry.
