THE WEEKLY FUND RAISER: Sergeants Thompson and Macgirvin imposed a severance tax of $1.00 on each member because nobody brought in a guest. After that they had a fine time of collecting money from President Dane, Duke because he is the Big Hat President, Paul B. and Guy for having no pin, Tony for hiding his quarter under his saucer, Paul B. again for being a Chiefs fan, and Fred for setting up the meeting room.
TUIT REPORT: Paul Hardenburger provided a brief report of the Tuit, and then gave it to Darren Wicks and now they BFF. Reminder on Tuit Rules, if you see the Ambuc who has the Tuit, you better recognize both him and the Tuit because he will report at the next meeting if you didnt. On the other hand if the Ambuc who is supposed to have the Tuit but doesnt have it, you can rat out that guy by reporting to the Sergeants.
AMBUCS SOCIAL: Terry Brigman in conjunction with the Big Hats is planning a social for our club. Date Tuesday November 12, 2013. Time A come and go format from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Place his office Plaza Astle Realty 224 E 30th. Snacks and food provided. Bring a guest.
ICE CREAM PARLOR PROJECT: The next meeting will be Friday November 15, 2013 at 6:15 a.m. All members are invited to attend.
TODAYS PROGRAM was delivered by Melanie Green owner and operator of Blue Bird Books located at 2 South Main Street. Its been almost one year since she started her business. The 2000 square foot store was restored as much as possible to its original state including the original tin ceiling. The store houses about 11,000 titles and is on a system of return and exchange according to sales. Many activities are conducted in the store and events attract the customers. There are several categories of book clubs, mystery, kids, non-fiction, fiction, and the most popular are cocktail recipe books. Overall general fiction are the best selling books, and in second place are books for kids. The store also offers e-books and e-reader devices. Harley Macklin commented the business adds to the success of Downtown Hutchinson business and commerce.
DRAWINGS: The inaugural Lucky Aces Pot was won by Stan Macgirvin and he got $5. The winner each week will draw a card from a deck of cards. The Joker gets nothing, any card besides the Ace of Spades get $5. Ace of Spades wins the 50/50 pot according to what has accumulated in it.
