Newsletter 03/30/2012

Editor: Paul W. Brown

Guests: Rich Shelton, guest of Brad Thompson. Warren Wallis, President of the Air Capital AMBUCS chapter. Frank Chappelle, Past President of the Air Capital chapter.

Sgt. Report: Big Hat Sgt. Brad Thompson and Big Hat Deputy Stan MacGirvin started the revenue collections by fining Big Hatters sans Big Hats, namely: Jeff Brewer, Tony Power, Steve Conard and Doc Powers. Curtis M. was fined for being the club leader and NOT being a Big Hatter. Tom Hymer was going to be fined for not keeping the website current, but he blamed Curtis M. Larry S. was fined for false information on the website. Terry B. was fined for trying to get by with the ball cap Big Hat. Then we all got fined for failing at Totally Useless Trivia. Here is an example: What country banned Donald Duck because he wore no pants? Answer: Finland.

Announcements: Duke Wiggins was in charge of the Big Hat meeting. This is an announcement because we had to remind Duke that he WAS in charge.

Also, Curtis M. needed assistance with filling the T-shirt orders to be completed after the NJCAA tournament. Thank you to the members assisting.

Program: Frank Chappelle, Past President of the Air Capital AMBUCS, shared his experiences in obtaining grants for AMTRYKES. Foundations were not interested in donating for brick & mortar or for salaries or operating costs, but would donate for AMTRYKES. Frank recommended utilizing fellow AMBUC, Bob Richards, to write the grant requests. Another suggestion was to present the AMTRYKE to the recipient at the place of business of the grantor. It is important to build relationships with businesses that you wish to approach about donations.

50/50 Pot Winner: Steve Conard-$26.00.
