AMBUCS Newsletter 10/7/2011
Editor: Jeff Roberson
Guests: Anette Roberson, Bob Overmyer, Kyle Young
Sergeants: Bob Bush has made it a personal cause to collect enough fines to pay for an Amtryke during his term. So, to that end many fines were handed out and paid in. Late Fines were handed out for pot winning fines, birthday fines, proud AMBUC fines (or not being a proud AMBUC, as the case may be). This editor got fined for misstating the date and cost of the golf tournament. Bob is also having paid announcements for various happenings within our community. Reigns of Hope will have their fall auction and fund raiser at the Fair Grounds on October 29th. Jay reminded us about the upcoming Casino Night for Holy Cross.
Announcements: The Golf Tournament is on Friday October 14th at the Highlands. So, we will NOT be meeting at the Town Club on the 14th for breakfast but at the Highlands.
Program: Bob Overmyer talked about his work at Sonoco. The plant first opened in 1909 and has been recycling paper for over 100 years. He talked about the savings over the years of greening up the Hutchinson Plant. When the plant first opened they used a tremendous amount of water and gas. Today they operate at better than the average plant on energy and water usage. In 2007 they won an award for energy reduction. They have an excellent strategic partnership here in town to recycle our post-consumer paper.
Drawings: 50/50 for $36 was won by Scott Saylor. Duke Wiggins knew the newsletter question and won $40. So, the next newsletter question is worth $5.
Newsletter question: In what year was Reno County organized?
