AMBUCS Newsletter 9/2/2011
Editor: Jeff Roberson
Guests: Michael Webb, Julie Bockenstedt, Gerald Thompson
Sergeants: Its crunch time for filling slots at the Ice Cream Booth. This year we still had a few openings to fill. So, the Sergeants gave immunity to anyone who stepped to fill the slot. For those who didnt a fine was levied against them. The good news, all of the slots are filled. Jerry of Rod Run fame is looking for homes for boxes to help support our National Guard troops overseas. If you have a good spot at one of your businesses, please see Jerry. He has a nice list of items that one can donate.
Ice Cream Booth: As mentioned previously all of the slots are filled. If you have not picked up your Fair passes from Fred yet, they will be at the guest services booth across from the 20th and Poplar gate. Cant fill your shift? Its up to you to find someone to cover it for you. Fred didnt seem interested in providing this service.
Announcements: Curtis Mitchell is still looking to drum up people to attend the district meeting down in Oklahoma City on October 13 to the 16th. It looks like a good time; if you need more information see Curtis. Jay is also drumming up folks for the upcoming Casino night on September 24th. Rita said to bring a guest next week. Also, the Hutchinson News had a nice article in Sundays paper (August 28th) about the Amtrykes we donated last time.
Committee Meetings: The Board will be meeting at 6:15 AM on Friday, September 9th.
The Ice Cream Committee will also be meeting on September 9th at 6:15AM.
Program: Michael Webb from Families Togethergave a nice introduction of what his office does. From their website:
Families Together, Inc. is a statewide organization that assists parents and their sons and daughters with disabilities.
By supporting the growing number of Kansas families and individuals who care for and about children/youth with disabilities, we believe children and adults will become valued members of their families, schools and communities.
Whether you are beginning or well into the journey with your infant, toddler, youth or teen, our staff is just a phone call away. From early intervention services, disability related information to transition to adulthood, Families Together is here to help.
Staff are available in each center to help parents gain support and information concerning specific disabilities, special education, financial and/or medical resources, and understand their rights by phone, or in person.
The purpose of his visit was twofold. First to introduce his organization and second since we share a common purpose he suggested that we could partner together.
Drawings: 50/50 Pot for $34 was one by Mr. Paul Brown. The newsletter drawing was for $15 and Chuck Peterson didnt know the answer. The TECH Golf Tournament drawing was won by Bob Bush.
Newsletter Question: For $20, at what hotel is the district meeting being held at in Oklahoma City?
NOTICE: We WILL be meeting at the Town Club for breakfast at 7:00AM on FridaySeptember9th.
