MEETING: October 29,2010 GUESTS: Mary Hemmings Executive Director of the Fox Theatre
FINES: Sergeants-At-Arms, Brad Thompson and Jeff Brewer were in rare form and tried to empty all wallets. Some of the fines, but probably not all were: Late: Eric S., Randy H., Reta C. and very Late, Ward D.. Many fines were collected thanks to Big Hats. If you had your hat, you were fined if did not have your hat you were fined if you are not a big hatter you were fined. And, on and on.:) Eric and Steve were find for chip rental. The Ladies table was fined to excess, because the have the most money.
BIG HATTER OF THE DAY: Fred Conner; Charter member of the club, married to his beautiful wife Barbara, has two children and has lived in Hutch for 42 years. Fred is retired but stays very busy with lots of Volunteering through out the city. TUIT: Jim Jacobs recovered the Tuit and offered a couple of fines. He then quickly passed it to Curtis Mitchell who is very proud to have it.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Reta proudly let the club know that she has a new son in law and offered to show wedding pictures to anyone interested. We need to keep Dean Brigmans wife and Bob Bushs son in our prayers.
REMINDER: Scott, from the Membership committee reminded us all that we are in Fall Branding Time!!
PROGRAM: Tim Davies introduced Mary Hemmings Executive Director of The Fox Theatre. Mary opened her presentation by reminding us of a few facts, like, the Fox will be 80 years old in 2011, $4.5 million was raised to renovate and in 1999 they reopened with Gregory Hines performing. In 2001 the Fox was almost closed again and with community support the Fox Foundation was established. Now the Fox is physically sound. Mary repeatedly mentioned what tremendous support the community gives the Fox. The Fox is used in many different ways for weddings, education and meetings. Fundraising is back to the forefront as money is needed for the marquee and paint and plaster work. In closing Mary expressed again how grateful she is for the community support. Up coming events are Oklahoma on Thursday and then the Texas Tenors on Saturday.
