Class I Community Service Patches recently awarded to the club. Chuck Peterson told the club of how thieves were breaking into fans at football games cars and using their GPS to locate their home and taking the garage opener to gain entrance and steal their valuables, knowing that they would be away during the length of the football game.
Brenda Janda introduced Dominic Glendening and his family, Dominic received the 1st Amtryke from the Al Strecker Memorial Fund. There will be two more Amtrykes presented at future meetings for Trinity Pachero and Charlotte Troy.
The District Governor swore in Rick Mitchell and Curtis Mitchell as new officers, Scott Potucek as President for 2009 and led the membership in their pledge of support of the Hutchinson Ambucs Club. She then presented Al Streckers 2008 Presidents Plaque and Past-Presidents pin to Jan.
Bob Bush reported that donations to the Al Strecker Memorial Fund to date were $6,000 and that the Community Service Committee had met and agreed to honor the request of Jan Strecker and her sons to use the monies to purchase 3 Amtrykes each year or to any additional needy child under the direction of the Community Service Committee. He then read a most touching letter from Jan which included a $500 contribution from the Strecker Family towards Als Amtryke Fund.
Jeff Brewer spoke about history and mission of The Ambucs Club made up of over 6,000 Ambucs in 120 Chapters throughout 21 States. Nationally Ambucs raise funds for the education of therapists and Amtryke development. Locally Hutchinson Ambucs support TECH, The Early Education Center, Reins of Hope, Camp Hope and Head Start. In tribute to Als leadership, the club achieved Blue Chip for the second year in a row. This award represents a 10% net increase in membership over the previous year. It is highly unusual for a long term club of our size to earn this honor. To achieve it for a second year is very rare indeed. Jeff reviewed the accomplishments of our chapter during Als six-month term as president. Our Ice Cream Booth at the Kansas State Fair was awarded a Championship Blue Ribbon among all the food vendors this September. The Club has given away 9 Amtrykes, putting us on the road to placing 20 by May 31, 2009. We sponsored 2 HCC students who are working toward their degree in some branch of therapy at $1,000 each. We recommended 2 two students working toward an advance degree in therapy who were accepted by the National AMBUC Scholarship Committee for $500 scholarships and matched those funds from our chapter funds. In the last 6 months we have made donations to the following local Community Service organization: The Early Education Center, Sundance Farms, Camp Hope, TECH, and Headstart.
THE SGT WAS QUIET FOR A CHANGE. WATCH OUT FOR THIS WEEK.
