Paul W. Brown-Editor

GUESTS: Daran & Michelle Slack-guests of the club because we did not see Randy Hendrickson. Ron Pfister and Larry Wagerle-guests of Jim Shaw. Carlos Palma of ALCOA-guest of Guy Gann. Jeff Adams of Hutchinson Community College-guest of Jay Pitzer. Craig Bishop of Titus Transportation-guest of Kip Hildebrand. Pete Peterson, Anheuser-Busch hitch supervisor and Virgil McDonald, Anheuser-Busch brewmaster-guests of President Bob Bush.

FINES: Sgt. Ward Davis and his assistant, Dennis Reiser, were prepared to make up for last weeks shortcomings. Curtis M. was fined for the biscuit on his chin. Steve C. was fined for a nametag needed by another member. Dave Burton was fined for his ringing phone during the meeting and taking the sales call. (Then Dave paid double since it was his first official fine as a new member! Dave, Dave, Dave, the stupid tax so soon? Experienced members need to take Dave aside and explain!) Al S., Jim K. and Duke W. were fined for not being able to spell Sergeant. Curtis M. succeeded in spelling Sgt. The membership was then fined for all those AMBUCS who did not help with the t-shirt inventory.

TUIT REPORT: The TUIT is still marooned on the 5th floor of the Reno County Courthouse with Tom Stanton.

PROGRAM: Al Strecker introduced Pete Peterson, Anheuser-Busch hitch supervisor, as our guest speaker. Of course, this means the Budweiser Clydesdales are in town. Augustus Busch, Jr. bought the Clydesdales and wagon for his father as a gift to celebrate the end of Prohibition in 1933. The Clydesdales and wagon were used to deliver a case of beer to President Franklin D. Roosevelt and to the ex-governor of New York who was instrumental in ending Prohibition. Currently, Anheuser-Busch is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Clydesdales. The eight-horse hitch and wagon are in Hutchinson as a part of Main Street Hops and Cinco De Mayo. Three semi-tractor trailer rigs and a 7-man crew accompany the Clydesdales as they travel across the country. Clydesdales are draft horses that average 2000 lbs. and a height well above even Brad Thompsons coconut. The Budweiser Clydesdales teams are maintained at ten locations around the United States and average 320 days per year on the road.
