April 11, 2008: Paul W. Brown, Editor.
GUESTS: Ron Kelley, Sarahs Catholic Book Store-guest of Ward Davis. Daran & Michelle Slack, Image Recovery Associates, LLC-guests of Randy Hendrickson. Former AMBUC, Linn Stevens, was present with his granddaughter, Abby Guhl.
FINES: The designated money-grubbers, Sgt. Ward and Asst. Preston, were victimizing their fellow AMBUCS, as usual! Dennis R. was fined for being late to the board meeting. Jim K. was fined for being late to breakfast. Dan P., Steve C., Brad T. and yours truly were fined for eating in front of the guests (who were late!). Lee G. received the mystery fine. Wards wife found a summons on her door that belonged at another address. Sgt. Ward used this opportunity to fine those remotely associated with it, to-wit: Bob B. (city councilman), Pat F. and John K. (bankers) and yours truly (attorney). Rick M. was fined for saying he was going to hide at the big table from the Sgt. (while Preston was sitting there). Jim S. and Steve H. were fined for being KU fans (National Championships cost real money, ask the alumni association!).
TUIT REPORT: Dean Brigman possessed the TUIT for the week. Those not asking are as follows: Randy Hendrickson when he called, Bob B. at the beginning of the meeting, Terry B. on Sunday morning and Ward D. who gave Dean the TUIT. The TUIT was then entrusted to John Knipp.
PROGRAM: Ron Kelley was our guest speaker representing the Mayors Task Force on the Wiley building. The Task Force will hold a series of public meetings to obtain the input of Hutchinson citizens on the prospect of acquiring the Wiley Building for public purposes such as a new city hall. The Wiley building has long been a part of the downtown skyline and occupies a prominent location at 1st & Main. The Wiley building also shares its upper floors with The Fox Theatre. Currently, the Wiley building has no central heating system, inadequate fire protection for all floors and few tenants. If you wish to participate in the discussion, attend the public meetings and notify your city council representative of your preference prior to the first Tuesday in July.
