April 4, 2008: Paul W. Brown, Editor

GUESTS: Darein and Michelle Slack of Hutchinson-guests of Randy Hendrickson. Bruce Lawrence of Lawrence Auto-guest of Greg West.

FINES: Sgt. Ward and his assistant Al Turncoat Strecker were on patrol. Al was donning his KU attire in public since they had made the Final Four (K-State alums take note!). Doug F. was fined for leaving his printing order in the parking lot. President Bob was fined for embarrassing Greg W. during the guest introductions (as if thats possible!). The following AMBUCS were fined for not offering to sell 50/50 tickets in Tony P.s absence: Rick M, Dan P., Guy G., Pat F. Tom H., Steve C. and Jeff B. Tom H. was also fined for not paying attention. Dan P. was fined for an advertising tax since he was the program.

TUIT REPORT: Larry Sloan is still recovering from surgery, but did manage to pass on the TUIT. Unfortunately, he passed the TUIT on to the Sgt. at Arms. Steve H. and Ward D. were fined for not asking Larry. Jay P. was fined for not asking Ward. Randy Hendrickson was fined for not asking Ward.

Brad Thompson was fined for not asking Ward about the TUIT while he poured concrete. And when he had the opportunity to return the TUIT to its Daddy, he erred and gave it to Dean Brigman.

PROGRAM: Dean Brigman introduced Dan Power of Edward Jones as our program. With recent stock market fluctuations and fears of a recession, Dan was present to address those concerns. Dan reviewed the history of the market as it endured Black Monday on Oct. 19, 1987, the Asian currency crisis of 1997, the dot.com bubble burst and 9-11-01 attacks. Despite these setbacks, the U.S. economy has been growing 92% of the time since 1982. While individual segments of the market experience downturns, the stock market overall continues to grow for the long term. Therefore, Dan says: Dont fear the bear. Dont panic during market declines. Focus on what you can control. 1. Keep a long-term perspective when investing. 2. Invest in quality stocks. 3. Diversify your stock portfolio. This is not a quote, but seek professional advice from an investment representative.
