ANNOUNCEMENTS: There was a second reading of the motion from the Board to raise dues $2 per month from $35 to $37 effective June 1st. The last increase in dues was in 2000. With our current membership of 74, this would raise almost $1,800 per year. This would eliminate any financial shortfall for the foreseeable future. Following discussion it was voted on and passed unanimously.

A BIG THANK YOU to all those who worked the NJCAA tournament for our club and charities!

PROGRAM: Randy Hendrickson introduced David Upp as our speaker. David, the son of former Hutchinson attorney Robert Upp, is an ordained United Methodist minister since 1976. David has been in Fiji for the past 3 years as an international missionary. He decided the need there was not as great since many are already Christians and that he needed a tougher assignment. His next appointment will be as a student at the Leonard Theological College in Jabalpur M.P., India. For his living quarters he chose a 2-story apartment on campus where he could sleep upstairs in winter and downstairs in summer where it can reach 113 degrees. India is about 6% Christian compared with about 2% for that area of the world. There is still persecution of Christians in India. Graduates of the school must also take Hindu and Islam classes as part of their curriculum so that the missionary student will have a better understanding of the people of India.

50/50 POT: Steve Conard won $23.

NEWSLETTER: Stan Macgirvin didnt read his newsletter so the pot increases to $10. Nationally AMBUCS clubs hold two major membership drives per year, Spring Round Up and Fall Branding Time where current club members receive a special pin for bringing in a new member during these periods.
