AMTRYKE PRESENTATION:

Ted Hall, a second grader at Lincoln Elementary, was presented with a new set of wheels. Ted has cerebral palsy and needs help with leg development. Ted was joined by his parents, Dewain and Glenna, and his siblings Toryo and Kelly.

Brenda Janda introduced Marc Trent with the Hutchinson Recreation Commission as our program. Marc is the son of the late Alvis Trent, a long-time member and friend of the Hutchinson AMBUCS.

Marc presented a video used to train parents about their responsibilities at youth sports events. The four basics of sports for youth include: learning fundamentals, making friends, participation in athletic events and having fun. Unfortunately, some parents become overzealous about their childs success rather than seeking their childs enjoyment. 70% of the young people do not participate in sports by age 13 because it is no longer fun. Parents need to remember that recreational sports are for the children not the parents. Let coaches coach, let officials officiate, show support, keep emotions under control and keep concerns away from the game and the child. Be a model league parent!
