Jackie Koerner and Ken Moore of Communities That Care

TUIT REPORT

Jason Jones descended on the Social Committee with the Tuit in tow. All failed to ask including: Jeffs Brewer

and Frizzell. Pasta Night at the Highlands was also a popular fund-raiser with Doug Foss and Bill Long contributing.

Ten other AMBUCS were offenders as well. The TUIT was passed along to the former coach of Jasons son, Don Grossardt.

PROGRAM:

Ken Moore presented information about The Regional Prevention Center. In cooperation with U.S.D. 308, this activity seeks to combat risk factors in adolescents. Anti-social behavior, drugs, academic failure and family disharmony are all problems sought to be addressed by the program. Tutoring by adults is an effective means of improving the plight of children at risk.

The Strengthening Families Program was presented by Jackie Koerner. Designed for the needs of 10-14 year old children, the purpose is to improve communication between parent and child. Parents are provided instruction regarding love and limits and building bridges. The youth are taught techniques to deal with peer pressure, to reach out to others, to understand family values and to establish realistic goals.

Club Announcements

VOLUNTEERS FOR CASINO NIGHT: December 11, 2004 at the Cosmosphere. We still need volunteers to serve at casino night. This is really EASY duty that raises $1,000.00 for the club for four hours work! If you are inexperienced, do not be reluctant to try. You do not work alone. Call Jay Pitzer to volunteer.

CHRISTMAS PARTY: Look for an announcement from the social committee for a party in early December.

BIG HATTERS MEETING:

Jo Ann Watch your paws! Williams has scheduled a meeting for November 9, 2004 at 7:00 A.M. at Samplers restaurant. (Perhaps theres a raffle in the works.)

NO MORE PLAID CLOTHING! Were losing our Sparky! Jason Jones is headed for the mountains of Boulder, Colorado. He will be managing the Boulder YMCA starting Jan 1. His last day at the Red Cross is Dec. 10. Take this opportunity to thank Jason for his contributions to our community and AMBUCS.

DOWNTOWN AWARD: The Downtown Development Association presented the president with an award for our participation each year in hanging Christmas lights. The award is primarily composed of a brick. (Which prompted one AMBUC to say that our beloved president was no longer one brick short of a load. For Shame!)

BOARD MEETING: November 12, 2004, 6:15 A.M. at the Hutchinson Town Club
