Newsletter 10/26/2007

Guests: Jim Shaw, retired, a guest of Fred Conner. Coach Ryan Swanson and Assistant Coach Dave Brown of Hutchinson Community College. Jason Jones, former member, director of the Ft. Madison, Iowa YMCA.

Tuit Report: Doug Foss began the collection process by fining Mark C. because he saw Mark’s wife at Al Strecker’s garage sale; and she did not ask about the TUIT. Likewise, Al S. did not ask at the garage sale. Then Al gave Doug a bumper sticker that read: “It’s not a beer gut, it’s a liquid grain storage facility.” Jeff B. and Bob B. were fined for not asking in their e-mails sent to Doug. Jay P. was fined for not asking at Subway. S. Eric was fined for not asking when trying to peddle “school stuff.” Duke was fined for not asking at praise team practice even though Doug was in another part of the church. Rick M. and Doyle asked. Since we are losing Jo Ann Williams to a career move in the not too distant future, she was blessed with the TUIT for one final time.

Fines: Sgt. Ward and his youthful assistant, Curtis Mitchell, took the field to dominate their opponents. (OK, so they limped around with a phony toilet, but the athletic image is far more impressive.) Bob B. was fined for his Vegas trip that he claimed was “business.” Mark C. was fined for running his car into Don G.’s partner’s car at Anchor Away. Don G. was fined for driving a Ford Fusion since his brand-new Lexus was wrecked in a matter of hours after he took possession. Duke was fined for hearing loss caused by too much Viagra. S. Eric was fined for being on time. Greg W. was fined for not winning the newsletter drawing. Bill Long was required to contribute from last week’s 50/50 pot.

Program: Our guest speakers were HCC Basketball Coach Ryan Swanson and HCC Assistant Coach Dave Brown. The Hutchinson Community College basketball team is a pre-season favorite to win the conference and is ranked 14th nationally. Coach Swanson has 13 guys who can really play. The team has been scrimmaging against other teams to prepare for the season. Coffeyville has been added to the schedule to assist with that preparation. Only two players return from last year’s team. The Quarterback Classic is scheduled to begin November 1. Enjoy some Blue Dragon basketball at the Sports Arena!

Branding Time: October and November-2007. Earn points for merchandise by bringing guests and new members into the club! The membership contest continues through November. Invite that friend or business associate to breakfast this week! (Better yet, pick them up and bring them.)

Social Date Changed: The AMBUC social has been changed to November 1, 2007 at 5:30 P.M. at the Grand Slam to avoid conflicts with other events. Please make that change on your calendar.

20 Years at the Kansas State Fair: The Hutchinson AMBUCS received recognition from the Kansas State Fair for being a vendor at the fair for TWENTY consecutive years. The framed ribbons will be displayed at the Old Fashioned Ice Cream Booth on the fairgrounds. Thank you to all AMBUCS, family, friends and supporters who have participated in this project.

50/50 Pot Winner: Al S.-$23.00.

Newsletter Drawing: None. (Bob Bush was without.) $25.00 next meeting.

Next Meeting: October 26, 2007. Randy Henderson will introduce the program.
