Ambucs Weekly Meeting of Friday October 21, 2016
Todays guests, Mary Treaster, Ron Hirts, and Jim Schlickau, all Reno County Commissioners. Harley introduced his guest from Larned.
Sergeant Jim Knipp went to work to raise money for the kids. Happy Donors included Paul Hardenburger, Ward Davis for advertising, Jeff Brewer for being himself, Dane Power, Stan Macgirvin, Doug Foss for teeing off from the ladies T-box, some unknown member lost a shirt.
In the category of happy celebrations Harley paid to announce his 57th wedding anniversary. Also Scot Cooley for his wedding anniversary.
Kathy Hanks introduced her aforementioned guests who are running for public offices.
Mary Treaster, lives in Pretty Prairie and is a Reno County Commissioner. She talked about her family farm, and is also a school teacher. She is Superintendent for the Fairfield School district. She discussed the possibility of small grocery stores for rural residents.
Ron Hirts, lives north of Partridge. He serves on several boards in schools and around the area. He believes more discussion is needed for to make rural areas more viable.
James Schlickau, is a rancher, and the owner of Schlickau Herefords. He was first elected as a commissioner in 2008. He discussed mil levies and the attention to budgeting in rural areas. In rural Reno County there are about one thousand bridges to maintain and maintenance is very important.
