ICE CREAM PARLOR PROJECT: Chairman Darren Wicks provides this report of the Meeting of the Ice Cream Parlor Project held on Friday October 18th.

The Ice Cream Booth met for the first time on Friday to begin putting together a long term plan for the Booth project at the State Fair. I am including some of the bullet points discussed by the committee:

1) The Ice Cream booth has been and continues to be a viable option to raise funds as a club.

2) There are 3 options for the booth 1) Build New 2) Remodel Current 3) do nothing

3) New building costs (est. $80,000 – $125,000) includes teardown, etc.

4) The net profits from the Fair have declined in recent years. I will have those figures at the Nov 1st meeting.

5) Jim Seitnator suggested we take this opportunity to start from scratch and review the complete business model of the Ice Cream booth and this review might help us make long term decisions on the physical booth. The group agreed.

6) President Dane Power suggested we also use a Pro/Con T chart to review this project as well.

The next meeting is November 1st at 6:15 a.m. ALL MEMBERS are invited as this is a big decision and all input is welcome. This project will no doubt have some controversy within the club as any decision this large would. We want to approach this with an open mind and all input is welcomed. I look forward to seeing you on November 1st.

TODAYS PROGRAM: Program Manager Jeff Roberson introduced Peggy Livingston who is secretary of the Hutchinson Theater Guild. Its almost 100 years old and was formerly located at the Hutchinson Womens Club located in a house next to the Library, but the house has been torn down for a few years. Ms. Livingston recited very interesting historical events of the theater. One of their events is Talking Tombstones which is an annual fundraiser at Hutchinson’s historic Eastside Cemetery. The re-enactors bring to life colorful and famous folks from Hutchinson’s past. The Guild is currently relocating their headquarters to 9 South Main Street.

DRAWINGS:50/50, Fred Conner had the winning ticket and won $20. Newsletter, Paul Hardenburgers name was drawn, but he couldnt answer the question. For $40 the Newsletter question for the meeting on October 25th is, where are the Talking Tombstones?
