Opening Ceremony: Pres. Dane Power Called the meeting to order. Fred Conner led the Prayer and Brad Thompson led the Pledge.
Guest: Pieter Miller, Airport Manager for the Hutchinson Municipal Airport, also our program.
Sergeants: Brad (the Red Truck Oilman) Thomson and Stan (the Chihuahua) McGirven hustled the crowd for donations. EVERYONE was fined for NOT a single Guest. Paul Brown was fined for being associated and pictured in the Newsconcerning the new Nudie Ordinance passed by the Council. Thankfully he did not demonstrate. Darren for not having a Past Presidents Pin (when will he figure outhe has to orderhis own Past Presidents pin and plaque, that’s the tradition.) Scott P bought a fine for another Granddaughter, Mia Brooks Henry. Brad made aPLEA for moreGUEST, in the interest of self preservation for the club. Apparently, Bradmade a gender specificreference in his plea, RetaJoy corrected him noting it could be ladies as well(she ain’t afraid of no Sarge). Doug Foss bought a fine for Circles of Hope Run Boy Run benefit concert at Trinity.
Announcements: Duke has scheduled the first ice cream delivery for Labor Day(yes Monday) at the Booth 6am. Next Meeting is the annual Golf Tournament at Carey Park , breakfast for all(including non golfers) 7a at the clubhouse. Jay mentioned the first quarter of the proceeds for the Dillon’s reloadable cards at $399. First Casino night of the season, benefitting the Catholic Schools will be held at Holy Cross Sat. Oct. 5 (need 20-25 helpers)
Program: Pieter Miller, Airport Manager for the Hutchinson Municipal Airport discussed several items relating tot he Airport. The 4rth Ave relocation is a $4 1/2mproject funded 90% FAA and 10% City of Hutchinson created to move the runway navigational aids further from the end of the runway. The Airport and FAA are looking at “Hotspots” on the airfield to identify incident prone crossings of the Runways and Taxiways. The City is working with the FAA and KDHE at the former city landfill near the south east corner of the airport to remove debris and trees which provide cover for deer and other unwanted animals. The Tower is currently funded through Sept. 30, 2013, there is currently a bill before Congress to extend funding for 3 additional years.
