Newsletter 11/16/2012

MEETING: Friday, November 16, 2012 EDITOR: Tom Hymer

WELCOME GUESTS: Preston Clark introduced Dale Tritsch who has retired from the Hutchinson Post Office. Jeff Brewer brought his wife Pat to the club this morning.

SERGEANTS: Scott Potucek and Guy Gann fined President Darren for keeping the wrong time, however there was a question about what is the right time. Duke is supposed to deliver the fine money and other revenue to the accounting office, but decided to keep it for a couple of weeks in hopes that it would multiply. Dan, Ward, and again Darren were fined for being smart alecks, something that is very unusual. Then the crowd was treated to another session of Thanksgiving Turkey Trivia. But somehow the NFL got into the game, so to speak, with football trivia from 1934. But back to turkeys who have 3500 feathers each, 46 million are sold, they cluck and gobble, and wild ones can fly at 35 miles per hour. A whole bunch of people had to pay for not knowing these things and everyone was satisfied when the bell rang.

TODAYS PROGRAM, Dan Power introduced our own Chuck Peterson who presented todays program about diving in the Fiji Islands. Dan himself is an accomplished diver, and recognized Chuck for the distinction of Master Diver. Getting to the Fiji Islands requires 12 hours of flying and crossing the International Date Line at 18 degrees S. latitude causing Chuck to fully feel the effects of jet lag. With quality and precision cameras Chuck captured beautiful and colorful videos and photos of his diving events.

The pristine clarity of the ocean was outstanding. He identified sharks and other species of fish swimming all about and describing how they are all an integral part of nature. Thanks to Chuck for a fascinating and informative presentation.
