Newsletter 11/09/2012

MEETING: Friday, November 9, 2012 EDITOR: Tom Hymer

WELCOME GUESTS: No guests today.

SERGEANTS: Scott Potucek and Guy Gann went hunting in the Ambuc Forest and found some hapless members to charge and take their money. Ward was late, $1. The Dead Butt Society decided to re-create itself but Macklin, Brewer, and others were fined for the inspiration. There is a new concept called Bicycle Butts of the City Council, try not to think about it. C. Mitchell paid for growing his beard and R. Mitchell paid for going somewhere but he couldnt remember. We hope this is not representative of the other members of the club. The big money maker was Scott Potuceks Thanksgiving Trivia game.

1. PAID ANNOUNCEMENT: Harley Macklin paid to announce that he and his wife went to Hawaii to celebrate 39 years of marriage, many congratulations.

2. ANNOUNCEMENT: Guy Gann and Randy Hendrickson announced that our Christmas party will take place on Saturday December 1ST 6:30PM at the Towne Club. On the menu is prime rib, chicken marsala, and salmon. Included is a buffet and dessert. $25 per person. Sign-up sheet is going around.

CLUB BUSINESS: Doug Foss reported that Brad Thompson delivered two Amtrykes, one went to Linden and the other went to Osage City. Both recipients were very grateful, and one expected to pay for the Amtryke. Thanks to Doug and Brad and all the members on the Community Service Committee for their good work.

HAVE YOU NOTICED, some members who regularly attend have been absent lately. How about giving them a call to urge them to resume attending the weekly meetings.

TODAYS PROGRAM, Dan Power presented his hunting expedition to the Arctic Tundra. Just to get there takes 2 days and 4 flights. The weather is quite chilly there, ranging for -25 to -50 degrees which requires 1inch parkas and other cold weather gear. Attention must be given to prevent frost bite as it can occur in seconds if one is careless. Some discussion was made about this subject, and its probably one of those things where what is said in the club, stays in the club. The hunt included muskoxen (a type of buffulo), caribou, and white wolves. Inuit Eskimo Indians populate the area many of which are on government assistance provided by Canada. Dans son Dane assisted by creating a Power Point presentation using the photos taken while Dan was on this expedition. Very interesting program and informative as well.

50/50 DRAWING: Reta Joy won the 50/50 pot of $16.

NEWSLETTER DRAWING: Ward Davis name was drawn, but he didnt know the question nor the answer. The Newsletter question for next Friday is, What is the name of the Eskimo Indians that live in the Arctic Tundra? $25 for the right answer.
