HUTCHINSON CHAPTER OF AMBUCS
GUESTS: Randy Dreiling, Hutchinson High School Head Football Coach (Program) & Luke Steinle, son of Eric Steinle.
THE SERGEANTS SLAUGHTER: Sergeant Slaughter, Brad Thompson, and Toilet Toter, Jeff Brewer levied late fines to Jim Seitnater, Randall Haltom & Ward Davis. Randy Henderson was hit with a membership renewal tax. Sergeant Brad observed that during his reign he had not fined Dave Suhler, so he was hit with a quiet tax, a no AMBUC pin fine and also hit Doyle Ehling and Pat Fallon for a guilty by association tax for sitting with the quiet one. Paul Brown paid for eating or not eating ice cream? Darren Wicks was hit with the Presidential tax. Dan Power was fined for his program arriving before he did. Darren was hit again for a smart remark tax. Guy Gann paid for not wearing his badge and not wearing his AMBUC pin. Brad was short on material so he pulled out some of his totally useless trivia on several tables to raise some money for the kids. Fred Conner bought a fine to announce the collection bucket being passed around to try to save the Head Start kids Christmas. Doug Foss bought a fine announcing he and Grandma Jill will be in Orlando, Florida next week celebrating a grandsons 1st Birthday.
THE PRESIDENTS REIGN: President Wicks thanked all AMBUCS for their hard work at the Ice Cream Booth at the Kansas State Fair. An announcement will be made at a later date as to how profitable our fund raiser was. The first meeting of the T-Shirt Committee will be Friday September 28th at 6:15 a.m. The first Ice Cream Building Committee meeting date is still to be announced.
CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS: Casino Night this Saturday September 29th at the Town Club for Cause for Paws.
PROGRAM: Dan Power introduced Randy Dreiling, Hutchinson High School Head Football Coach, as being crazy for wanting to take over a football program that did not win a game in three years, but coach Dreiling described himself as not crazy but desperate. Randy began by thanking the club for what we do for the community. He understands what we do and how much it means to those we help as his first child was born premature and had some special needs during its early childhood development. Coach Dreiling believes the running of his football program probably has some parallels to running a business. He opened it up for questions to be able to talk about the topics we wanted to hear about. First line of questioning began with what happened last Friday night against Rockhurst and how do you get your kids to move past it to get them ready for the next week. He said that first off he blames someone else, then he looks at how did I cause the problem. He said that Rockhurst scoring the last 21 points of the game to win was the perfect storm. Approximately 10 things happened that allowed them to get on that roll and continue on that roll to complete their comeback. In hindsight, there were a few instances that he should of called timeout and told them exactly what he was thinking instead of assuming they were on the same page with him. Coach Dreiling believes what he is doing with the HHS Football program, except for a few of the cuss words, is the best for the kids. He believes that kids these days have too much of a sense of entitlement, so he makes them work hard for their respective spots and will start the best players at each position regardless of who they are (his own son included) or how good their parents think they are. Coach and his staff are not only teaching these kids football, but also teaching them life lessons.
