PROGRAM Reta Joy Campbell introduced Elizabeth Beth Redinger, Principal of Avenue A School. Beth with help from Heidi Harris, Grade 6, told us about a new program developed for her students for the 2012-2013 school year entitled For the Love of Reading. Heidi explained that reading is the great equalizer for students. The Avenue A team will assist each child in building their own bookcase and filling it full of literature to keep for their own. Beth also showed a video of their students reciting the school pledge, singing a song What Am I and performing a school cheer. Currently Avenue A school has 176 students grades K-6. Due to budget cuts, community groups, businesses and individuals are being asked to partner with them by making cash donations to make the new program become a reality. Rita passed a basket following the program and members made individual donations to the project. Tyson Foods, where Reta is employed, is a business partner with Avenue A School.
