PROGRAM Darren Wicks introduced Jeremy Hopp, Pawnee District Executive for Quivira Council Boy Scouts of America. Quivira Council serves over 13,000 youth and 5,000 adult volunteers in 30 central and south central Kansas counties. The council is divided into 6 geographic districts. Hutchinson is in the Pawnee district and Kanza, High Plains, White Buffalo, Osage Nation and South Winds complete the Quivira Council. Recently Quivira Council surveyed current and former adult leaders and parents and asked them to provide feedback on the impact Scouting has on youth, families and their communities. Overwhelmingly the responses show that scouting has helped youth learn leadership skills, grow in self-esteem, self confidence and learn important life skills. Scouting is effective in preparing youth to be responsible adults. Jeremy concluded by asking those who believe in scouting to share with friends and business partners to make a difference and contribute financially and by giving time towards scouting activities.
