SERGEANTS: First off they recognized and led the members to honor the veterans in our club, Stan Macgirvin, Doc Powers, and Randy Hendrickson. We commend each of you for your service. Then Dennis and Doug a.k.a D&D COLLECTIONS fined Bob Bush for being tardy, Randall Haltom for making a list and forgot anyway, Paul Brown and Jim Seitnater who work for the City of Hutchinson were prodded to pay for Jana Durham winning the 50/50 pot, Dane Power and Darren Wicks for dodging their program duties. Then John Knipp, Curtis Mitchell, and Bob Bush were all fined for eating chili and drinking Coors Beer at the bank, hospital, and on city property. Hows that possible??? Dennis in his dreams dreamed up a money maker for shared names of the members, e.g. there are 2 Jeffs in the club. Ward Davis was fined for work at the Zoo.
ANNOUNCEMENT: Randy Hendrickson announced the annual Christmas Social on Wednesday December 7TH at 6:00pm at Jillians Restaurant which is offering a select menu bar. The Sign-up sheet is going around.
ANNOUNCEMENT: Thanks to the Big Hatters and other donations of goods our annual Head Start Santa Boxes will take place. That means our Friday meeting on December 9TH will begin with breakfast at the Airport Steak House. Afterwards we will cross the street at L & B Storage and Equipment Rental to assemble the boxes for the Head Start kids.
ANNOUNCEMENT: Jay Pitzer announced a new opportunity for a casino night on December 17TH and recruited enough dealers to participate.
PROGRAM: Scott Potucek intro todays program, Siemens Wind Energy of Hutchinson, KS. Starting with Ron Williams he spoke of his responsibilities as Logistics Manager handling materials, warehouse, and planning. Siemens has various divisions in its company with 7,600 employees in the Wind section. One turbine tower will generate 2.3 megawatts of power that will supply about 200 to 300 houses with power. Here in Hutchinson Siemens makes the nacelles and hubs for the turbines, one nacelle will cost $1 million to manufacture and $3 million to install, huge start up costs in the energy industry. Laura Snyder moved from Denver to oversee the community awareness of Siemens sponsoring events like the Rod Run. Also Siemens works with the Kansas Cosmosphere, American Red Cross Blood drive and others. Bill Prouse was the fourth person hired by Siemens in Hutchinson. He talked about the windows are tinted to react to the amount of sunlight as part of energy conservation. About 2 to 3 nacelles are produced per week. Duke Energy and Westar are placing orders for nacelles. Turbines are designed to react to wind speeds of 2mph to 56mph.
