HUTCHINSON AMBUCS
Guests: NONE!! First time in weeks there have been no guests.
Sergeants Playground: Jerry R and Doug F patrolled as sergeants for the day. Doug began by producing a document printed from the internet indicating that Coors Lite had taken over the #2 position, dropping Budweiser to #3. Being unsure of who controlled this website, Mr. Bush indicated thats not true in his distribution area. However he did pay to get a copy of the document to be used as inspiration for his guys. Jeff Roberson failed to sneak in late and paid his fine. Colby Davis was also fined for being late – guess who paid the fine. All the stockbrokers were fined for not announcing the stock market debacle weeks ago. Larry Sloan paid for working his wife Barbara on Sunday moving a backhoe no less.
Announcements: According to my calculations, next Friday is the 2nd of the month, which means board members should plan to be present at 6:15. If Im wrong, blame President Curtis for not updating the calendar on the website.
Program: President-elect Darren Wicks paid dearly for not having a program for today. Actually, his program cancelled at the last minute, so he called on Jim Jacobs and the ice cream booth committee to give a status report. Both American Fun Foods (our supplier for napkins, dishes, toppings, etc.) and Sysco (our supplier of ice cream and cone mix) have been contacted and are prepared for our orders. Fred Conner announced that he has a number of slots available during the evenings and on both weekends. We are asking each member to work 4 shifts this year and encouraging the development of new leadership by signing up for an assistant managers slot. Jay Pitzer will be taking over while Fred is out of town, so expect to hear from Jay if you havent committed to 4 shifts. Brad Thompson discussed the condition of the booth itself. The roof is sagging, the siding is rotting, and the floor needs to be replaced. We have been looking at this problem for the last 10 years but havent proceeded to develop a plan to attack the problems. President Curtis will appoint a committee of members who possess the skills to put a plan in action. At this time, we will repair the building as needed for the next several years until the plan can be developed and funds raised. Several suggestions were made on how to fund this project and those will be assessed by the committee and the board.
Drawings: Stan Macgirvin won the 50/50 pot and donated the $21 to the new booth fund. There was no newsletter drawing, as Steve Conard forgot the name chips.
The newsletter question for Friday the 12th is worth $50 if your name is drawn and you can provide the answer to the question What are the 2 biggest fund-raising projects, annually raising between $18,000 and $22,000?
