HUTCHINSON AMBUCS NEWSLETTER Duke Wiggins, Editor
Our only Guest this morning was Marc Blackim of the Hutchison Monarchs Baseball Organization, hosted by Darren Wicks.
Sergeants for the morning were Larry S and Scott P, who started off by fining Jim S for being late, then moved on to levy a membership renewal tax on Mark T. Anita W carried the TUIT last week and zinged her daughter Valerie right out of the gate. Bill L also paid for not asking about the TUIT when Anita visited Mainstreet Mensware to purchase some Ambuc clothing. She then celebrated Fathers Day by fining all who did not run an errand for their spouse during the last week. The TUIT now resides with Ron Williams.
The AMBUC of the Day was Dane Power, one of our newer members. Dane is in the investment business, representing none other than Edward Jones. He is one of Hutchinsons most eligible bachelors and spends his free time rebuilding old motorcycles and playing the guitar.
President Rick M reminded members that the AMTRYKE Trailer will be on display at the Rod Run during the 4th of July festivities. Dean B has volunteered to deliver the trailer to the fairgrounds. A work schedule circulated last week requesting volunteers to man the trailer, but he still needs several more members to step up. The shifts are 2 hours each on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Please consider filling a shift and taking the opportunity to see the newly remodeled mobile tribute to AMTRYKES and AMBILITY.
Our Program for today was introduced by Darren W. Marc Blackim is the owner and General Manager of the Hutchinson Monarchs, our local representative to the Walter Johnson Developmental Baseball League. Marc is a local boy who grew up playing amateur baseball, and he and his wife Kim see this organization as a way of rebuilding the youth baseball program in the community. The Monarchs are made up of college age young men who invest their summer months to live with a host family, improve their skills, and make contacts that will enhance their careers in baseball. Marc and his wife Kim have marketed the Monarchs to the young people and have developed some novel ways to attract them and their parents to their games played at Hobart-Detter Field in Carey Park. In only their second season, the Monarchs are much improved over last year and have set a goal of qualifying for the NBC National Tournament in Wichita at seasons end.
