Summary of the Hutchinson Ambucs in action: Tom Hymer, editor

The 1st Annual Central Bank Salt City Bowl – Saturday December 5th: It was a frigid day at Gowans Stadium for the football game between the HCC Blue Dragons and the New Mexico Military Institute Broncos. But the T-shirt printing presses were hot as the Ambucs helped the fans and the players with their shirt orders. Thanks to all the Ambucs that made this event a success and to Dennis Reiser for his leadership.

The Annual Christmas Party and Social – Wednesday evening December 9th: The Airport Steak House was this years site for this event. About fifty people attended composed of Ambucs members and their spouses. The restaurant did an excellent job and delivering great food and service. Jeff Brewer provided an exercise for the members to participate in and think about Five Reasons I think that makes Ambucs great and why I am proud to be a member. Several members thoughtfully shared that our community service, friendship, Amtrykes, and working on projects together makes our club a great club. Thanks to the Social Committee and Jeffs leadership for making a great evening.

The Annual Head Start project Friday morning December 11th: Our weekly Friday meeting was held at the Airport Steakhouse. Our guests included about 12 people from the staff of Head Start. After eating breakfast everyone went L&B Storage and Rental to make the Christmas boxes for the Head Start kids. The boxes include healthy snacks, mittens, coloring book, and fruit. About 340 boxes were filled for distribution for needy Head Start clients. When about 60 Ambucs gather together on a project we get the job done. Thanks to Larry Sloan for the use of his building. Also thanks to Doyle Ehling for his leadership and to all members who participated in anyway.

Casino night – Friday evening December 11th: Cutters Furniture Store invited our club to stage another casino event this year for their employee annual Christmas party. This is small setting but everyone has a lot fun. And it raised about $800 for our community service projects. Thanks to Jay Pitzer for his organization skills and the small band of Ambucs who volunteed to be dealers for the games.

The Round Tuit: JoAnn Williams continues to care for the Tuit, we assume.

The next regular meeting: Friday December 18th we return to the Hutchinson Town Club. The program manager is Guy Gann who has arranged for a Christmas music performance by HCC director of bands Jeff Pelischek. Pelischek plays a variety of instruments, however is well-known for his talent playing clarinet.

Newsletter question: How many boxes were made for Head Start?

No meetings mark your calendars: Because Christmas and New Years day fall on Fridays there will no meetings.
