Weekly Meeting of the Hutchinson Ambucs: Tom Hymer, editor
Guests: Clem Kilpatrick of Metal Re-cycling, invited by Scot Potucek; Doug Hoffman of Imperial Vending invited by Doug Foss; Jo Mora and Jamin Landavazo of the Reno County Museum bringing todays program; Ron Quick of Culligan Water.
Sergeants with a little mercy: John Knipp and assistant Randy Hendrickson started their session with a story about passing Brownies from vehicle to vehicle at 30th Street stop lights. The identity of the participating Ambucs is not recorded here for their own protection from law enforcement. Tom Hymer was fined for a mistake in the Newsletter, Goeff Tolbert won last weeks 50/50 pot, not Kathleen Kennedy. Dean Brigman purchased a fine to advertise the Rod Run Car Show in Downtown Hutchinson this week end.
The RoundTuit:It was said that Jay Pitzer lost the Tuit. However after frequent visits to the blasting machine at The Promise Regional Hospital he not only produced it, he also had two baby Tuits. Bizarre, but not surprising. Negligent Ambucs guilty of not caring are Larry Sloan deep in worship at church, Doug Foss and Steve Conard for calling on the phone, Steve Harmon for driving by. Dean Brigman is the new keeper of Tuit, hey, what about the two baby Tuits? Are they up for adoption?
Club Announcements:President Scott Potucek performed the induction of several new members into our chapter:
Jim Jacobs of Elliott Mortuary sponsored by Dean Brigman
Goeff Tolbert of Morton Salt sponsored by Doug Foss
Kathleen Kennedy with a new position at a Wichita law firm, sponsored by Doug Foss

We welcome these people into the club. Its a great start for our Fall Branding campaign toward achieving Blue Chip honors of reaching 80 members in our club.
President Potucek announced a Board Meeting for Friday October 9th at 6:10am for planning club business for the remainder of the year.
Eric Steinle, Ice Cream Committee Chairman, announced the preliminary results of the sales at the Ice Cream Parlor of $41,500 before expenses and the cost of the ice cream. He complimented each and every member for their participation in making this event a big success and his appreciation for the dedication and support to make it run smoothly and working out the equipment problems that cropped up. In other words, Eric is saying attaboy!
Program: Scott Saylor introduced todays program from the Reno County Museum and presenters Jo Mora, Assistant Director of Development, and Lamin Landavazo, Chief Curator. Landavazo related that the aging museum buildings are showing structure and mechanical problems that must be addressed. An air conditioner failure and wall stress caused by storage of artifacts on the second floor caused closure of the museum for the summer. Two tons of artifacts were moved out the building to reduce the weight to relieve the stress. This led to analyzing the artifacts and the need to keep them. For example there are 41 antique typewriters and many other items that are subject to decommissioning. In conjunction with the Downtown Antique Appraisal Fair, Saturday, October 17, The Reno County Museum is hosting a fundraising event Antiques and Collectibles Auction. For more information click on this link: http://www.renocomuseum.org/media/ticket_flyer.pdf . Mora spoke about the attractions at the museum and mentioned these: Archival documents and photographs for study and research; Special programs and tours for schools, clubs, and organizations; The Oodleplex, an interactive area for children 2-12 years old. Mora offered details on some of building restoration projects, new steps at the Kline building and new windows at the Rosemont building. The museum supports the Ask Hutch column in the Hutchinson News.
Drawings: Scott Potucek won the 50/50 pot of $25 which he donated to the museum.Terry Brigmans name was drawn for the newsletter question, however he left early. The newsletter question for Friday this week is: What is the Oodleplex?
