Weekly Meeting of the Hutchinson Ambucs: Tom Hymer, editor

Guests: Rion Rhoades HCC football coach and presenting todays program. Rex Martin administrator of Prairie Sunset Home guest of Randy Hendrickson. Jim Jacobs of Elliott Mortuary guest of Dean Brigman.

Sergeants on duty: John Knipp and his favorite toilet carrier Randy Hendrickson rang the bell at 7:15am and started their session by having all the Ambucs that worked at the Ice Cream Parlor to stand up and applaud ourselves. No one remained seated, a tribute to the dedicated members of our club. They tried to sell the Pinery ball cap left at the Ice Cream Parlor to Tom Hymer. He denied owning such a ball cap but had to pay a dollar so the sergeants would go harass someone else. They fined Ward Davis for being a whinny baby. Then there was a sudden pin check that netted some cash. Dane Power heard the bell while walking in and was fined for tardiness. Also honest Abe Jim Kicklighter paid a dollar for being late. Kathleen Kennedy learned that being a new member is no excuse for being late and she happily paid her fine. Jeff Brewer, a.k.a the Rat, reported that Brad Thompson and Jim Kicklighter played lousy golf at the TECH tournament.

The RoundTuit:After toting the Tuit for several weeks Ward Davis had an extensive report of Ambucs who ignored the chameleon washer. The violators are Steve Harmon, John Knipp, Steve Conard, Guy Gann, Randal Haltom, Curtis Mitchell, Larry Sloan, and Diane Saunders. Ward blessed the crafty Jay Pitzer with the Tuit, are you ready to show your care and concern?

Club Announcements:President Scott Potucek announced that we will be inducting new members into the club on Fridays meeting October 2nd. Lets all attend this meeting and welcome the new members into the club.

Talking about new members, Fall Branding is in full swing to invite people to visit our club to learn about us and our out-reach programs.

Preliminary results of the sales at the Ice Cream Parlor are $41,200 about $2,500 more than last year. A final report with the net results will be available after the cost of the ice cream and expenses are paid.

Everyone who attended the meeting of September 18th at the City of Hutchinsons new Water Works building certainly enjoyed the program by hypnotist Ron Diamond who presents to audiences during the State Fair. Thanks to Steve Conard for bringing us an interesting program and to Bob Bush for making the arrangements for breakfast and the meeting site at the Water Works.

Program: Guy Gann introduced our program today, Rion Rhoades Head Coach of the Blue Dragons Mens Football program at Hutchinson Community College. Rhoades was a linebacker on HCCs 1993 and 1994 teams. In December 2006 he was named the 17th head coach of the Blue Dragons. He directs six assistant coaches integral to this seasons success of 3 – 0 with a rating of #4 in the country. He draws many talented players from the surrounding area, including Hutchinson High and Andale. His working motto is Get better each week. He commented that the recent game with Fort Scott will present a major challenge and indeed it was as the Blue Dragons suffered a terrible loss. Butler is the opponent this Friday October 3rd at Gowans Stadium. Good luck Blue Dragons and thanks coach for a great program.

Drawings: New member Kathleen Kennedywon the 50/50 pot of $25.There was no newsletter question for the last meeting. However the newsletter question for Friday this week is: When was Rion Rhoads named head coach of the Blue Dragons?
