Hutchinson Chapter of AMBUCS

Editor: Jerry Dalton

Guests: Marcy Kauffman with Tech, Inc.

Sergeants Playground: Late to Board Meeting fines were levied on Pam B and Brad T. Darren W, who is not on the board merely wandered into the meeting and back out and that cost him a buck. Always Honest Randy Henderson paid a buck when someone from his house called to say they had just gotten up and where the heck was he. Brad T was fined again for telling his guest, Ron Simmons, that breakfast started at 8:00 think this was a setup as payback for last week. Last but not least, Kip Hildebrand was hit with a re-acquaintance tax.

Tuit: No report as Monte was not in attendance.

Announcements:

Scott reminded us of the importance in building our membership back into the 80s and beyond. We currently stand at 72 and our Blue Chip goal (10% increase) for this year is 80. One reason we are asking all members to sign up for 4 slots at the Fair Booth this year is that the current membership will really be stretched to meet this task in September. Both Fred C and Jeff B encouraged attendance at the upcoming Cookout at the Knights of Columbus Facility at 1200 West 15th on Saturday, August 29th, and bringing at least one guest (potential member) with you. The Big Hat Club will be providing steaks and baked potatoes at no cost to members, spouses, or guests. We are asking the members whose last name begins with A-M provide a salad or veggie dish. Those with last names beginning with N-Z bring something for dessert. The Big Hats will also be providing beer and wine as well as soda and tea.

Jeff B also announced that the Tech Golf Tournament will be Monday, September 21. Tickets will be sold at each meeting – $5 each or 3 for $10. If you wish to join Rick Mitchell on the AMBUCS team, look up Jeff B

An update on Ward and Erica Davis and their unborn child. They are still in Wichita keeping an eye on Ericas and the babys progress. The doctors indicate the birth will be by C-section, and could take place in the next few weeks. Be sure to keep the Davis family in your thoughts and prayers this week.

Program: Marcy let us know about a new fundraiser for Tech – Downtown Uncorked for Tech. This event will be Thursday night, 6-9pm, October 29, 2009. Standard Beverage, out of Wichita, is partnering with Tech for this event. 350 tickets will go on sale September 24 at $35. Nine Venues will offer a total of twenty different wines for tasting and provide snacks. Since the AMBUCS have been big supporters of Mainstreet Hops, she made available volunteer sign up sheets (just in case). She also stressed how tight the budget is for Tech this year and how important support from the AMBUCS has been to TECH over the years. As federal and state funds dry up, Tech has to rely even more on local fund-raising such as Downtown Uncorked for Tech.
